Thanksgiving In Gen 1-2 (Jan 2)

Thank God for Gift of Life

The first two chapters of the
Bible begin at “the beginning”.
Chapter 1 gives a concise overview
of the progress of creation,
climaxing in the creation of man.
Chapter 2 takes a zoom-lens look
at day six. There the details emerge
of how God’s image-bearers were
created – man from the dust of
the ground & woman from his rib.

Lord, thank You for Creating Us:
Then God said: Let Us Make man
in Our Image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion
over all the earth (Gen 1:26).
Then God saw everything
that He had made, and indeed
it was Very Good (Gen 1:31).
And the Lord God formed man
of the dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the
breadth of life; and man became
a Living Being (Gen 2:7). Amen.

Lord, I thank You for creating me
and because I am wonderfully
made in Your image. Thank you
that everything about me: physical
features, the way I think and my
talents is handcrafted by You.
And thanks for the opportunity
to live in this wonderful world
which is also Your creation. Amen

Lord, I acknowledge that You are
the Giver and Sustainer of my life.
Help me to cultivate a life of
thanksgiving and be constantly
aware that You’re always with me,
caring, guiding, protecting me.
I will ever be thankful for the life
that You God has blessed me with.
And as each day the Lord makes,
I’ll rejoice and be glad in it. Amen.

Lord, in gratitude, we purpose
to live each day thankfully and
not take life for granted but
live it wisely and purposefully.
Help us take care how we live –
not as unwise but as wise, making
the most of every opportunity; and
help us make good use of the time.
And let our speech be gracious,
seasoned with salt, so that we
may glorify your name, Amen.
