Praying thro Genesis (Jan 21)

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,
We start 2017 with 3 weekends
meditation on the Gospel of Mark,
the first gospel that was written.
And as we approach the Chinese
New Year season, just a sneak
preview that we will be meditating
over the next three weekends, on
Genesis the first book of the Bible.

Genesis means “beginnings” and it
unfolds the record of the beginning
of the world, of human history,
of civilisation of salvation.
In essence, it is the story of God’s
purpose and plan for his creation.

God created the world in majestic
power, culminating with a man and
woman made like himself. Before
long sin entered the world, creation
was shattered by the fall and
fellowship with God was broken.
In rapid succession, Adam & Eve
were expelled from garden of Eden,
their first son turned murderer,
and evil bred evil until God
finally destroyed everyone
except a small family led by Noah,
the only godly person left.

Come Abraham on the plains of
Canaan, we discover the beginning
of God’s covenant people and the
broad strokes of his salvation plan:
salvation comes by Faith.
Abraham’s descendants will be
God’s people and the Saviour
of the world will come through
this chosen nation. The stories
of Isaac, Jacob and Joseph
emphasise the promises of God
and the proof that he is Faithful.

No matter how dark the world
situation seems, God has a plan.
No matter how insignificant or
useless you feel, God loves you
and wants to use you in his plan.
Join me in Genesis. Look out for it!

For better perspective on our
meditation on the book of Genesis,
we will cover it over 6 phases:
G1-5: Creation & the Fall
G6-11: Story of Noah
G12-25: Story of Abraham
G25-28: Story of Isaac
G38-36: Story of Jacob
G37-50: Story of Joseph
