Praying thro Song of Songs(Nov 12)

Dear Friends,
Since start of the year, we’ve been
chronologically meditating through
the bible to see how the Mega Theme develops thro each book. So, we covered 5 books of Laws
& Job; before meditating on 6 historical books up to King David
(the high point of Israel’s history)
and Psalms where we learn
to pray, thank and praise God.
We then go on to to 2 Chronicles
spanning 4 centuries of Judah’s
history from the glory days of
Solomon & building the Temple to
the conclusion of Babylonian Exile.
And we covered Proverbs, teaching
us application of truth to daily life
and how to live to please God.

Next we meditate on Song of Songs
King Solomon is credited with writing over a thousand songs
in his lifetime. However, this is
the one that he calls the “Song
of Songs” or the best of all songs.
The king’s words weave a tapestry
of devotion toward his bride, touching on both the joys and heartaches of marriage. Though interpreters disagree whether the book is simply a lyric love poem
or the depiction of an actual event
in Solomon’s life, most see it as an
allegory for the Saviour’s eternal
love for His bride the church.

We’ll cover Song of Solomon in
just one session with 4 divisions:
Adoration of Lover (chap 1-2)
Joined to Lover (chap 3-4)
Separated from Lover (chap 5-6)
Devoted to Lover (chap 7-8)
