Preview on Jeremiah (Jan 20)

We have been covering the Bible
by time sequence, phase by phase
OT1: Five Books of Laws incl Job.
OT2: History Up to King David
from Joshua to 1 Chron + Psalms
as well as Reign of King Solomon
in 2nd Chron & Wisdom Poetry.
In Phase 3, we see decline of the
two nations, and Israel dispersed.
OT3A: 1 Kings: United & Divided
Kingdom and Obadiah & Joel
OT3B: 2K1-17: Israel Dispersion
as well as Jonah, Amos, Hosea,
Micah and Prophet Isaiah.

Next, on the time clock of history,
Judah is only seconds away from
destruction as God calls Jeremiah
to the task of preaching repentance
to an affluent, self-satisfied people.
Jeremiah challenges his country
men to recognise their errors and
repent. But Judah’s response
is not repentance but rejection.
For more than 40 years, the sinful
nation remains deaf to Jeremiah’s
warnings until at last it is too late.
The Babylonians army arrives;
vengeance falls and God’s justice
and holiness are vindicated.

We’ll cover book of Jeremiah over
three weekends under six divisions:
Judah condemned for sins (J1-10)
Destruction Prophesied (J11-20)
Judah’s Leaders Accused (J21-29)
Future Restoration of Jeru (J30-33)
Present Fall of Jerusalem (J34-45)
Prophecies to Gentiles (46-52)

Praying thro Jeremiah (Jan 27)

Message of Return & Restoration
(Prayer Walk thro Jeremiah 21-29)

Backgrounder: Time is running out
for Judah with a growing sense
of doom. Even that cannot deter
Jeremiah from His task: declaring
God’s displeasure with their sins &
conduct. Moving from the nation
in general to the nation’s leaders
in particular, Jeremiah singles out
three kings for judgment before
turning his attention to the Messiah
who will Restore righteousness and
justice. The nation will lie desolate
for 70 years when the wrath of God
is poured out on His wayward flock.

Dear Lord, you are holy and
you do urge your people to turn
from their sins, to Return to You
and may discipline; but you are
also good and will Restore them.
Help us Hear Your Voice & truth;
help us Return Wholeheartedly &
help us Seek You for we know
You have Good Plans for us. Amen
