Praying thro Isaiah (Dec 31)

Judgment for Pagan Nations
(Prayer Walk thro Isaiah 13-27)

Backgrounder: After proclaiming
coming judgment for Judah with
the hope that the people have
seen the Messiah, Isaiah proceeds
to declare judgment on the
pagan nations. These include
Babylon and Moab (c13-16),
Ethiopia and Egypt (c17-20),
Jerusalem and Tyre (c21-23).
Finally, the prophet proclaims that
judgment will turn to jubilation.

Dear Lord, You are Almighty,
Sovereign, all Loving & You Care
for the welfare of Your people.
We learn from the passages from
Isaiah on your judgment on the
nations & your purposes are good.
Help us Accept Yr Sovereign Plan;
Help us Not to Trust in Idols; and
Help us to Put our Trust in U. Amen

Judgment for Judah Coming

(Prayer Walk thro Isaiah 1-12)

Backgrounder: A crisis exists in
the nation of Judah. Wickedness
has permeated every fiber of the
social, political and spiritual life
of the country – a condition which
God finds intolerable. And Divine
indictment falls from the lips
of His prophet Isaiah. Unless
repentance sweeps the nation,
God will reduce His people to ruin.
Famine and pestilence will replace
feasting and pleasure to show the
Holy One of Israel still rules in Zion.
But in the face of trouble, Isaiah
also proclaims a note of hope that
the people that walked in darkness
have seen a Great Light.

Dear Lord, thank you for the book
of Isaiah which not only call the
nation of Judah back to God,
but also tell us of God’s salvation
through the Messiah. We will
come before Your Holiness;
we will Seek Your Help and
we Call upon Your Names. Amen.

Prayer Thot for the Day (Dec 29)

God Is Your Source

Backgrounder: David ends his
life the same way he began it,
praising God. His final words to
Solomon and to the nation reflect
the same wholehearted devotion
to God as the young shepherd.

Lord, You are our Source:
Yours O Lord is the greatness,
the power, the glory & the majesty.
Yours is the kingdom O Lord
And you are exalted over all.
Wealth and honour come from U;
You are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and
power to exalt and give strength
to all (1 Chron 29:11-12).

God Is With You

Backgrounder: David ends his
life the same way he began it
with humble confidence in God.
His final words to Solomon reflect
the same wholehearted devotion
to God that characterised
the young shepherd of Judea.

Lord, You are With Us:
Every part of this plan, David
told Solomon, was given to me in
writing from the hand of the Lord.
Then David continued: Be strong
and courageous, and do the work.
Don’t be afraid or discouraged
by the size of the task, for the
Lord God, my God, is with you.
He will not fail you nor forsake you.
He will see to it that all the work
related to the Temple of the Lord
is finished correctly (1Chr28:19-20

God Does More Than U Imagine

Backgrounder: David’s greatest
dream is to build a house for God.
Though David is not permitted
to build a house for God, God
will build a house for David –
a perpetual dynasty and kingdom.
God remains true to His promise
by preserving the line of David.

Lord, Your Will & Way is Better:
Lord, let the promise you have
made concerning your servant and
his house be established forever.
Do as you promised so that it will
be established & that your name
will be great forever. Then men
will say: The Lord Almighty, the
God over Israel, is Israel’s God!
And the house of your servant
David will be established
before you (1Chron 17:23-24).

God Gives Instructions for Victory

Backgrounder on 1 Chron 10-14:
After the death of King Saul
David becomes king of all Israel.
Then David forms his mighty men
of warriors. And the Philistines
begin their attacks of Israel. Learn
from David his secret to successes.

Lord, we will Inquire for Instruction:
Now the Philistines has come and
raided the Valley of Rephaim; so
David inquired of God: Shall I go
and attack the Philistines? Will U
hand them over to me? The Lord
answered him: Go I will hand them
over to you. So David defeated
them there (1 Chron 14:9-11).

God Answers Simple Bold Prayer

Backgrounder on 1 Chron 1-9:
Chronicles which focuses on the
southern kingdom of Judah, gives
a priestly perspective on the history
of God’s people. And 1 Chronicles
opens with a series of genealogies
(including Jabez) which show
God at work throughout history.

Lord, we will Pray Boldly:
There was a man named Jabez
who was more distinguished than
any of his brothers. His mother
named him Jabez because
his birth had been so painful.
He was the one who prayed to
the God of Israel: O that U would
bless me and extend my territory!
Please be with me in all that I do
and keep me from all trouble
and pain! And God granted him
his request (1 Chron 4:9-10).

God Offers Pardon & Restoration
(Prayer Walk thro Micah 1-7)

Backgrounder: Sin had infiltrated
every segment of society with
injustice and oppression of poor.
Micah pleads with countrymen to
turn away from sin & back to God.
But the message falls on deaf ears
that will soon hear invading armies.
But within the hardness lies hope;
for when justice is done, God will
restore His people to covenant land

Dear Lord, your holiness calls for
judgment of sins but your mercy
offers pardon to all who repent.
Lord Jesus we welcome You;
we will Walk in Goodness and
we’ll Rise Out of Darkness. Amen.

Praying thro Hosea (Dec 23)

God’s Love for His Sinful People
(Prayer Walk thro Hosea 1-14)

Backgrounder: Hosea prophesies
to an idolatrous Israel from his
own experience. Instructed by God
to marry the harlot Gomer, Hosea
finds mirrored in his domestic life
the unfaithfulness of God’s people.
Hosea carries God’s message:
The wickedness of Israel will bring
calamity. But though God’s love
must discipline, it will also restore.

Dear Lord, thank you for your
Lovingkindness: that though
Your love compels U to discipline
You will also restore your children.
Lord, we will Respond to Your Love,
We will Know You More &
We will Return to You. Amen.
