God Is Your Place of Shelter:
Backgrounder on Psalms 7-12:
All but one of the psalms began
with a cry of lament: “O Lord
my God”, “O Lord” and “Lord!”
These short but potent songs
express the psalmist’s desire that
justice prevail (v7), the wicked
be brought low (v8, 11-12) & God’s
holy name be exalted (8, 11-12).
Lord, you are my place of Shelter:
The Lord is a refuge for the
oppressed, a stronghold in times
of trouble. Those who know
Your name trust in You, for You
Lord, have never forsaken
those who seek you (Psa 9:9-10).
Lord, sometimes we feel oppressed
by life – by concerns and worries
and complicated situations.
Help me to remember that you
are a shelter for those who
are weary and scared. You are
my refuge in times of trouble.
You promise that you have
never abandoned anyone
who searches for you.
Lead me to Your truth. Amen.
Lord, shield us from the attacks
of the enemy. He seeks to remove
me from your will, harden my heart
to your love and lure me into
temptation and sin. Restore to
me a spirit of faith so that I will
look to Your Shelter in every way.
Lord, You are the Almighty,
All Loving, Faithful God
You are My Shield, My Strength
My Portion, Deliverer
My Shelter, Strong Tower
My Very Present Help
in time of need. Yes You Are!!
We will Bless the Lord forever &
We will Trust Him at all times.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
