Prayer Thot for the Day (Jan 8)

God Promises Fruitfulness

Backgrounder on Psalm 1-41:
Over a period of 10 centuries,
inspired hymns of worship were
composed and compiled to form
the book of Psalms. Authored by
King David and six other writers
& used as the Temple Hymnbook,
these pleas and praises capture
the essence of what it means
to walk daily with God. Each of
the five sections bears likeness
to a book of the Pentateuch.

Lord, we will Delight in Your Word:
Blessed is the man who walks
not in the counsel of the ungodly,
nor stands in the path of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of the scornful;
But his delight is in the law of the
Lord, and in His law he meditates
day and night. He shall be like
a tree planted by the rivers of
water, that brings forth its fruit
in its season, whose leaf also
shall not wither; and whatever
he does shall prosper (Psa 1:1-3).

Lord, I want to make you happy.
I want to do and be all that you
planned when you created me.
It’s your counsel I want to follow
and your side I want to be on.
Help me to continually think
of You and Your words so that
I might experience your joy.

Lord, give me the desire to read
Your Word and to meditate on it
day and night. Let me drink deeply
from Your Word. Most of all,
empower me to do what it says.
Let it inform my life & transform
my circumstances so that
I will bear hardy fruit.

Lord, I know that you want me
to delight in doing your will,
and that’s what I want to do.
As I meditate on Your word,
cause my roots to go deep
into your streams of water.
And make all that I do prosper;
for I purpose to Live by Your Word.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
