Prayer Thot of the Day (Aug 4)

Open My Eyes, That I May See
Backgrounder: Clara Scott was
a music teacher who composed
a great deal of instrumental and
vocal music. She became known
for her book of anthems which
was published in 1882. Her
productive life of composing and
teaching at the seminary in Iowa
is evidence that her eyes and
ears were open to the Lord’s
leading and that she was ready
to share what God gave her. We
should be ready to do the same.

Lord, we are open to listen to U:
How can a man cleanse his way?
By taking heed according to
Your Word. With my whole heart
I have sought You. Oh let me not wonder from Yr commandments.
Yr Word I have hidden in my heart
that I might not sin against You…
Be good to your servant, that
I may live and obey your word.
Open my eyes to see wonderful
truths in your instructions.
Don’t hide your commands
from me! I am always
overwhelmed with a desire for
your regulations (Psa 119:11-20).

Lord, it is a privilege to be able to
read Your Word anytime we like.
Open our eyes and grant us
wisdom to see and understand
the wonderful truths in your law.
Help us never take Your Word for
granted. Help us to treasure it
and meditate on it day and night.
Forgive us O Lord that in our
busy lives we often miss the
quiet promptings of Your Spirit.
And when we do hear God speak,
we often ignore the message.
Forgive us for we tend to say:
“I am too busy now and have
more important things to do.”
Holy Spirit, pray that You’ll draw
draw us to appreciate the love of
heavenly Father and Lord Jesus.
And may this hymn calls us to
watch & listen, and then go act
on what we have seen and heard,
as well as sharing it with others.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

Open my eyes, that I may see
Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see;
Open my eyes, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
Voices of truth Thou sendest clear
And while the wave-notes fall
on my ear
Ev’rything false will disappear.
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see;
Open my ears, illumine me,
Spirit divine!

Open my mouth, and let it bear
Gladly the warm truth ev’rywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus
to share
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
Open my heart, illumine me,
Spirit divine!
