Be Not Dismayed
Backgrounder: Rev Stillman
Martin had been invited in 1904
to preach at a New York City
church a few hours away from
home. But his wife became ill
that Sunday morning, and he
was about to cancel his speaking
engagement. Then his young son
spoke up: Father, don’t you think
that if God wants you to preach
today, He will take care of mother
while you are away? Martin made
the trip, and when he returned
home later that day he found that
his wife Civilla had written this
hymn in his absence, inspired
possibly by Psalm 91:1-2. That
evening, he composed the music.
Lord, we’ll put our Trust in You:
Those who live in the shelter
of the Most High will find rest
in the shadow of the Almighty.
This I declare about the Lord:
He alone is my refuge, my
place of safety; he is my God,
and I trust him (Psa 91:1-2).
Lord, thanks for many scriptural
promises that you will take care
of us when we put our trust in U.
We will come & live in the shelter
of the Most High and find rest
in the shadow of the Almighty.
We will give all your worries to
you God, for You care about us.
We don’t have to worry for you
God will supply all our needs.
Lord, Thank you for inspiring
Be Not Dismayed for it is a real
great hymn of encouragement.
It assures us thro days of toils,
in times of danger or need;
In fact no matter what the test,
God will take care of his people.
In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.
Be not dismayed whate’er betide,
God will take care of you;
Beneath His wings of love abide,
God will take care of you.
God will take care of you.
Thro every day, o’er all the way;
He will take care of you,
God will take care of you.
All you may need He will provide,
God will take care of you;
Nothing you ask will be denied,
God will take care of you.
No matter what may be the test,
God will take care of you;
Lean, weary one, upon His breast
God will take care of you.
