PrayerThots on Heb 11 (Sep 12)

God Honours Your Faith

Hebrews closes with an appeal for
a persevering Faith that relies on
the promises of God regardless
of the circumstances. Writing to
an audience whose actions were
being shaped by pressure from
the world rather than promises
from God, the author urges the
kind of Faith-inspired walk that
characterised so many OT saints.
Being so convinced of God’s
Faithfulness, they ordered their
lives according to His Word. Follow
their commendable example and
walk by Faith; and not by sight!

Lord, Increase Our Faith In You:
Faith is the substance of things
hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen… But without faith it is
impossible to please Him, for he
who comes to God must Believe
that He is, and that He is a
Rewarder of those who diligently
Seek Him (Heb 11:1, 6). Amen.

Lord, increase my faith so that
I can trust You even when the way
is dark and uncertain. As I pray,
empower and strengthen me
to believe that You are who You
say You are in the Scriptures.
And that You will respond and
reward those who seek You. For
I purpose to live by faith in the
Son of God, who truly loved me
and gave His life for me. Amen.

Lord, without faith it is impossible
to please You. So I claim Eph 6:16
that U give me the shield of faith.
Teach me to use the shield of faith
to provide peace and protection.
Teach me to obey even when
I can’t sense the desire to do
what is right. Give me new desire
and new power to live as I should.
Wean me from excuse that I am
too weak; for Your strength is
sufficient for whatever I face. Amen

Lord, I not only believe You exist,
I believe You want to be integral
part of every day of my life.
Let me not forget that and give
me reminders of Your Presence
moment by moment. For I know
You want my pursuit of You and
are zealous in pursuit of me too.
Please reward me with Your
presence and favour quickly
and clearly enough so that I don’t
get discouraged but inspired to
press even further into You. Amen
