Gospel Truth in Luke 11 (Nov 27)

Christ Teaches Persistence

Seventy disciples are sent out to
heal the sick & say: The kingdom
of God is come nigh unto you.
Their enthusiastic return prompts
Jesus to rejoice in praise to God.
But confrontation is gathering.
Some attribute His miracles to
Satan rather than God. Others
clamour for more miraculous signs.
And Jesus denounces the religious
leaders for their hypocrisy and
warns the disciples to be watchful.

Lord, we’ll Pray with Perseverence:
Which of you shall have a friend,
and go to him at midnight and say
to him: Friend lend me 3 loaves…
I say to you, though he will not
get up and give him the bread
because he is his friend, yet
because of the man’s persistence
he will get up and give him as
much as he needs (Luke 11:5-8).
So I say to you, ask and it will be
given to you; seek and you will find;
knock and it will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks receives,
and he who seeks finds and to him
who knocks it will be opened(9-10)

Lord, help me to be bold and
persistent in prayer. I don’t want
to be presumptuous or arrogant,
as if You owe me anything;
but rather to be confident in
what Jesus accomplished on
the cross that took away Satan’s
rule and established Your own.
Help me to have great faith
that prayer works so that I am
confident enough to ask for
great things, knowing that You
will answer in a great way. Amen.

Lord, Yr parable about Persistence
implies the key to experiencing
God in more tangible ways is to
ask repeatedly and persistently:
to press through the crowded
circumstances of our lives and
the negative voices in our minds.
Lord Jesus I accept your invitation.
I will keep going, persist against
disappointments and lack of
apparent results. I choose to
press through contradictions until
I experience U more fully. Amen.

Lord, You tells your disciples to
keep on asking, keep on seeking
& keep on knocking. All 3 levels of
prayer,each requiring perseverance
Ask with simple faith, like a child
asking a parent: simply trusting.
Seek with determined faith, in a
learning mode, open & observant.
Knock with persistent faith,
wanting to meet the face of God.
Lord, apparently You designed
prayer so that we are pulled into
Your desires; And our hearts are
transformed when Your desires
becomes ultimately ours as well.
To God be the glory. Amen.
