Lessons from Paul’s Journeys
(Prayer Walk thro Acts 13-20)
Backgrounder: The book now
focuses on the ministry to Gentiles
and the spread of the church
around the world and Paul replaces
Peter as the central figure.
Paul completes three missionary
journeys and ends up being
imprisoned in Jerusalem and
transported to Rome.
Dear Lord, Paul’s missionary
adventures show us the gospel
should not be confined to one
corner of the world but the hope
be rightly offered to all humanity.
Help us not to have a silo mentality
with interest only in self and family.
But instead venture forth to witness
for Christ and involve in missions.
Thanks for showing some weapons
we can use to advance yr kingdom
and claim deliverance for our lives.
Help us invoke power of Prayer;
Help us invoke power of Fasting &
Help us invoke power of Praise.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
Lord, we seek Yr Purpose in Prayer:
As they ministered to the Lord
and fasted, the Holy Spirit said:
Now separate to Me Barnabas
and Saul for the work to which
I have called them. Then having
fasted and prayed and laid hands,
they sent them away (Acts 13:2-3).
Lord, I know my calling & purpose
is revealed in prayer. I know it is
defined within a church body of
believers with whom I can grow.
Help me to be in the church body
You want me to be in so that
I can pray with others in unity
and be refined by Your Spirit.
And enable me to be set apart
for the work U have for me. Amen
Lord, help us to Fast and Pray:
Paul & Banabas returned to Lystra,
Iconium and Antioch, strengthening
the souls of the disciples, exhorting
them to continue in the faith… So
when they had appointed elders
in every church and Prayed With
Fasting, they commended them
to the Lord (Acts 14:21-23).
Lord, realised whenever important
decisions had to be made, prayer
are often accompanied by fasting;
like in appointing church leaders.
Lord, I know when I fast and pray
my prayers gain new power.
Help me to do that whenever
I have to make important decisions
and I must have your guidance.
Help me to restart the discipline of
fasting & make me ready to handle
the opportunities ahead. Amen.
Lord, we Claim Power of Praise:
Around midnight, Paul and Silas
were praying and Singing Hymns
to God, and the other prisoners
were listening. Suddenly, there
was a great earthquake and
the prison was shaken to its
foundations. All the doors flew
open, and the chains of every
prisoner fell off (Acts 16:25-26).
Lord, we praise U for Your mighty
power in our lives. We magnify
Your Name for there is none like U!
When I look at my circumstances
and am tempted to give up,
remind me of the example of
Paul & Silas and how U intervened
for them. Then put words of Praise
in my mouth. For You are my hope
in the midst of trouble. Amen.
