Praying thro Proverbs (Oct 21)

Friends, since start of the year,
we have systematically meditated
through the bible to understand
God’s Word better, see how the
Mega Theme dev thro each book;
& know the chronological context
of the redemptive plan of God:
That man’s greatest problem is
unbelief and the solution is to
trust the Lord & believe in Jesus.

So, we chronologically covered
five books of Laws & book of Job;
Interspersed by Matthew gospel,
before meditating 6 historical bks
(Jos, Jdgs, Ruth, 1-2Sam & 1 Chr)
up to the reign of King David
(the high point of Israel’s history)
& meditated on Psalms where we
learn to pray, thank & praise God.
Following an NT break on Luke,
we then go on to to 2 Chronicles
spanning four centuries of Judah’s
history from the glory days of
Solomon & building the Temple to
the conclusion of Babylonian Exile.

Next, we will cover the book of
Proverbs – the Bible’s primer of
practical wisdom and teaches
the skilful application of truth to
everyday life. Contained in this
unique collection of poetry,
parables, stories & wise maxims
are instructions regarding how
to relate to parents and children,
God and government, sin & self.
In essence, Solomon the main
author gives his readers a ‘divine
handle’ in living to please God.

We’ll cover Proverbs over 3 parts:
Wisdom for Young People (P1-9)
Wisdom for All People (P10-21)
Wisdom for Leaders (P22-31)
