Prayer Thot for the Day (Jan 26)

God Has A Plan For You

Backgrounder on Psalms 55-59:
These five psalms capture the
emotions of King David during
some of his most difficult days.
Notice David’s frank petitions and
confident trust in God in the wake
of being betrayed (P55), broken-
hearted (P56) & pursued (P57,59)

Lord, You Have A Plan for us:
My soul trusts in You; and
in the shadow of Your wings
I will make my refuge, until
these calamities have passed by.
I Cry Out to God Most High,
who will Fulfil His Purpose for me
and vindicate me… My Heart Is
Confident In You, O God; my heart
is confident. No wonder I can sing
your praises (Psa 57:1-2 & 7-8).

Lord, we’ll Trust In You & Not Fear:
Whenever I am afraid, I’ll trust in U.
In God (I will praise His Word)
In God I have put my trust; I will
not fear. What can flesh do to me?..
When I cry out to You,
Then my enemies will turn back;
This I know because God is For me.
In God (I will praise His Word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not be afraid. What can man
do to me? (Psa 55:3-4 & 9-11).

God Gives Joy of Clean Heart

Backgrounder on Psalms 50-54:
Sin and confession are prominent
themes in these psalms (P50).
David provides a model of
confession after his sin with
Bathsheba (P51) and goes on to
describe the treacherous nature
of the tongue (P52) and the folly
of pursuing evil (P53). Only with
God as your constant source of
help (P54) can you counter the
daily temptations & pitfalls of life.

Lord, Create in me a Clean Heart:
Have Mercy upon me O God…
Wash me from my iniquity… For
I acknowledge my transgressions..
Against U have I sinned (Psa51:1-4)
Create in me a Clean Heart, O God..
Renew a right spirit within me…
Do not cast me away from your
presence, & Restore to me again
the Joy of your salvation (v10-12)
My sacrifice O God is a broken
spirit; a Broken and contrite heart
You God will Not Despise (v17).

God Is Your Refuge

Backgrounder: The 2nd book of
Psalms (P42-72), is similar to the
book of Exodus. Just as Exodus,
many of these psalms describe
Israel as ruined & then recovered.
These psalms can help us pray for
rescue, confess our sin & trust God.
Psa 42-49 are attributed to sons
of Korah, descendants of the
man who died for his rebellion
against Moses (Num 16). They
mostly serve as singers and
musicians in temple (1C6:31-37).

Lord, U are my Refuge & Strength:
God is our Refuge and Strength,
an ever-present Help in times
of trouble. So, we will not fear,
when earthquakes come and
Mountains Crumble into the
sea… Be Still and know mthat
I am God (Psa 46:1-2 & v10).

Praying thro Jeremiah (Jan 21)

Querying God in Tough Times
(Prayer Walk thro Jer 11-20)

Backgrounder: For centuries,
prophets had come to God’s
people with the ultimatum:
Shape up or God will ship you out
in judgment. But their message
falls on deaf ears & stony hearts.
At last it is time for God to show
His words are no idle threat.
For their idolatry & disobedience,
the people will reel in judgment
at the hands of the Babylonians.

Dear Lord, even as Jeremiah
was tasked to announce your
tough message of judgment,
he had many questions which
he had no answers. Help us
to learn from your prophet
during difficult circumstance,
to Be Honest before You;
to Hunger for Your Word; and
to Cling to You. Amen.

God Delivers Those Who Wait

Backgrounder on Psa 37-41:
Psalms is not merely a book of
praise; it’s also a book of practical
counsel. And in the last 5 chapters
of Book One, you will learn how

and failing strength (P38-39);
how to rest in God’s faithfulness
(P40) and respond to a friend’s
unfaithfulness (P41).

Lord, we Wait Patiently for You:
I waited patiently for the Lord
to help me, and he turned to me
and heard my cry. He lifted me
out of the pit of despair, out of
the miry clay. He set my feet on
solid ground and steadied me…
Be pleased O Lord to deliver me;
O Lord make haste to help me!
You are my help and my deliverer;
Do not delay (Psa 40:1-2, 13-17).

you face any circumstance and

glory (P31), from failure to
forgiveness (P32), from false
security to confident trust (P33),

fear Him, and delivers them.
