Trusting God In Psalm 100 (May 24)

God of Goodness & Mercy

In Psalm 103, the psalmist urges
you to count your blessings. And
Psalm 98-102 provide plenty of
ideas to help you do just that by
focusing on the many things for
which you should be thankful:
your salvation (P98), answered
prayer (P99), God’s Goodness and
Mercy (P100), God’s justice and
holiness (P101) and God’s care
when you are downcast (P102).

Lord, You are Good & Merciful:
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us,
and not we ourselves; we are His
people and the sheep of His pasture.
Enter into His gates with thanks-
giving & into His courts with praise.
Be Thankful to Him and bless
His name. For the Lord Is GOOD;
His mercies is ever lasting
and His truth endures to all
generations (Psalm 100:3-5).

Father God, I come before You
with praise and thanksgiving
for all You are and everything
that You have done for me.
No matter what happens in my life
or in the world around me, I will not sink to the level of the problem.
Instead I will rise to the level of
the solution and praise You as the solution to problems & challenges.
I thank You for Your Goodness,
love and faithfulness to me. Amen.

Lord, transform my heart and
give me an attitude of gratefulness.
Open my eyes to see Your hand
in every area of my life. When
I have forgotten Your goodness,
remind me of what an awesome
God You are and the many things
I have to be gratefully thankful for.
Thank You Lord for the unique
ways You’ve blessed my life. Amen.

Lord, You are Good, able & faithful.
We are eternally grateful and
You deserve all praise & thanks.
For if we’re walking thro the valley
And there are shadows all around.
We’ll not fear, You will guide us
You will keep us safe and sound.
You hv promised to never leave us
Or forsake us and Your word is true
God is Good all the time
You put a song of praise
in the heart of mine
God is Good all the time
Through the darkest night,
Your light will shine; God is Good,
God is Good all the time. Amen.

Trusting God In Ps 95/96 (May 23)

God Our Maker & Saviour

Though the author of most of
Psalms 90-97 are unknown,
the Object of their worship is well
known: the God of eternity (Ps 90),
the God of protection (Ps 91),
the God of greatness (Ps 92),
the God of majesty (Ps 93),
the God of vengeance (Ps 94),
the God of salvation (Ps 95),
the God of glory (Ps 96) and
the God of holiness (Ps 97).

Lord, we will praise Our Maker:
Let us come before His presence
with thanksgiving; let us shout
joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the Lord is the great God,
and the great King (Ps 95:2-3).
Oh come, let us worship
and bow down; let us kneel
before the Lord our Maker.
For He is our God, and we are
the people of His pasture, and
the sheep of His hand (Ps 95:6-7)
Sing a new song to the Lord! Let
the whole earth sing to the Lord!
Bless His name. Each day proclaim
the good news that He Saves…
Tell everyone the amazing things
He does. For He is great and
greatly to be praised (Ps 96:1-4).

Father God, we thank You
that You have given us so much.
Your grace does not just come
in to us and forgive us our sins.
For it changes the way we live
in the world and with each other.
Draw and lead us Father God to
be more like Your Son who is so
gracious and came to serve. Amen.

Lord God, You are my maker
and I bow before You in adoration.
I worship You for Your strength,
Your perfection & Your compassion.
I worship You for being holy and
also being merciful to forgive sins.
I worship You for being greater
than the problems of this world.
I worship You for being the reason
for love, hope and joy in a world that
lacks much of these things. Amen.

Lord, draw me to sing to You
and bless Your name every day.
Give me a joyful heart to tell others
about the amazing things You do,
notably the good news: You Save!
Give me words Lord to share from
Your heart with those I will meet.
Reveal more of Yourself so that
I may praise You more and more.
For the Lord is great and greatly
to be praised indeed! Amen.

Trusting God In Psalm 91 (May 22)

God Shields & Shelters You

Though the author of most of
Psalms 90-97 are unknown,
the Object of their worship is well
known: the God of eternity (Ps 90),
the God of protection (Ps 91),
the God of greatness (Ps 92),
the God of majesty (Ps 93),
the God of vengeance (Ps 94),
the God of salvation (Ps 95),
the God of glory (Ps 96) and
the God of holiness (Ps 97).

Lord, we Seek Your Presence:
He who dwells in the secret place
of the Most High shall abide
under the Shadow of the Almighty.
He shall cover you with His
feathers and under His wings
you shall take refuge. His truth
shall be your Shield…(Ps 91:1-4).
Because you have made the
Lord who is my refuge, even the
Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you, nor shall
any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels
charge over you (Psalm 91:8-11).
Because he has set his love upon
Me, therefore I will deliver him…
He shall call upon Me;
and I will answer him (v14-15).

Lord, Thank You that in the midst of
life’s storms, I have Your Protection
when I come and dwell with You.
In facing stormy situation, You are
greater than any worry I may have.
As a mother bird shelters her
young, You will cover me with
Your wings and Shelter me.
Keep me safe and be a Shield
and Shelter for me, for my life
is in Your very hands. Amen.

Lord, Thank You that in Your
mysterious and powerful ways,
You Send Your Angels around
us to protect Your people
in their journeys through life.
And so I look to You as my refuge
and shelter so that I will live in
freedom of the Spirit and not fear,
no matter what happens. Amen.

Lord, all Your promises are true
and Your children are held safe
in the palm of Your very hand.
Grateful that Your strong shadow,
reliable refuge, safety shield and
ministering angels watch over us
and Protect us as we abide in You.
Because we set our love on You,
we can count Your deliverance.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Thought for the Week: Psa 79-81

God Will Come & Save You

The psalms of Asaph (Ps 73-83)
conclude with six testimonies to
the greatness and faithfulness of
the God of Israel. He has kept His
promises in the past (Ps 78) which
is a comforting reminder in the face
of an uncertain future (Ps 79-80).
God is there (Ps 81) & is not silent
(Ps 82-83) when it comes to cries
of help and overthrowing enemies.

Lord, we will Wait for Your Help:
How long Lord? Will You be angry
forever? Let Your compassion
quickly meet our needs, for
we are on the brink of despair.
Help us O God of our salvation!
Help us for the glory of Your name.
Save us…Why shld the nations say:
Where is their God? (Ps 79:5-10).
Restore us O God; cause Your face
to shine, and we shall be Saved…
Come back, we beg You O God
Almighty. Look down from heaven
and see our plight… Care for this
vine that You have planted, this son
You have raised (Ps 80:3, 14-15).
You Cried to me… and I Saved you…
Oh, that my people wd Listen to me!
Oh, that Israel would Follow me,
walking in my path… And I would have satisfied you (Ps 81:7, 13-16).

Lord, we realise that You don’t
always shield Your people from
attacks of this world; for You often
have a higher purpose in mind.
Help us to endure adversity with
patience and strengthen us O God.
Remember us & we appeal to Your
compassion to meet our needs;
for we are at the brink of despair,
for the glory of Your name, Amen.

Lord, thank You for the churches
in my community. Bless the pastors
and leaders with strength and unity,
and help their congregation to grow.
Help us to work together to reach
our community for You. Help me
Lord to be an encouragement to
brothers and sisters in Christ and
not to forget that we are all running
the race together. In Jesus’ name.

Lord, help us not only wanting to
hear from You but to Listen to You.
Help us not to be skeptical and
passive hearers but willing listeners.
You Lord value discernment but
You value trust even much more.
For You urge us in Your word
to walk by faith and not by sight.
So, fill us Lord with boldness to act on what we hear from You. Amen.

Reflection on Psalms 73-89

Trusting God thru His Promises

The purpose of Psalms is to provide poetry for the expression of praise, worship and confession to God.
Ps 73-89 is similar to Leviticus. We
praise God because He is holy and
deserves our worship and reverence. And because God is almighty, we
can turn to Him for deliverance.
On Monday, we learn from Ps 73
that God Is Our Shelter & Strength.
On Tuesday, we learn from Ps 77
that God Performs Miracles.
On Wed, we learn from Psalm 78
that God Will Provide Our Needs.
On Thu, we learn from Psa 79-81
that God Will Come & Save Us.
On Friday, we learn from Ps 84
that God Blesses & Gives Joy.
On Sat, we learn from Ps 88/89
on God of Salvation & Faithfulness.
Let us humble ourselves and pray
and seek His face. Help us O God
be Christ’s disciples who trust You:
for You truly keep Your promises;
for You are faithful and our shelter;
for You provide our needs, save us,
perform miracles and give joy. Amen

Trusting God In Psa 88/89 (May 20)

God of Salvation & Faithfulness

Psalms 84-89 are essentially
heartfelt petitions to God to
satisfy us again (Ps 84);
revive us again (Ps 85);
hear us again (Ps 86);
gather us again (Ps 87);
encourage us again (Ps 88);
make us to sing again (Ps 89).
And each psalm concludes with
a benediction of confidence that
God will do precisely in response
to the prayers of His people.

Lord, You Save & Ever Faithful:
(Jehovah Elohim Yeshua) I have
cried out day and night before You.
Let my prayer come before You;
Incline Your ear to my cry. For my
soul is full of troubles (Psa 88:1-3)
I will sing of the mercies of
the Lord forever; with my
mouth will I make known Your
faithfulness to all generations.
For I have said: Mercy shall be
built up forever; Your faithfulness
shall be established (Psa 89:1-2)
All heaven will praise your great
wonders Lord; myriads of angels
will praise you for Your Faithfulness.
For who in all the heaven can
compare with the Lord? (Ps 89:5-6)
My lovingkindness I will not
utterly take from him, nor allow
My faithfulness to fail. My covenant
I will not break, nor alter the word
that has gone out of My lips(33-34)

Lord Jehovah Elohim Yeshua, You
are the Lord God of my salvation.
You save not only eternally
but also in time and history.
By trusting in Jesus Christ
for the forgiveness of my sins,
I have received eternal salvation.
And by trusting in You Jehovah
Elohim Yeshua in my daily life,
I see You saving me from needless
pain, confusion, waste & regret; for
You are the God who saves. Amen

Lord, Your Word assures us that
You God is eternal, that You are
Unfailingly Loving and Faithful.
And the testimonies of many
Christians and personal healing
attest to Your might & Faithfulness.
Lord, we also praise You for Your
wondrous miracles for You have
created all things in the heaven &
on earth. You’re worthy to receive
glory, honor and praise. Amen.

Lord, Your lovingkindness will not
fail; Your covenant will not break;
& Your promise will not be altered.
Lord of mercy, You’ve heard my cry;
Thru the storm You’re the beacon,
My song in the night.
In the shelter of Your wings,
Hear my heart’s reply,
Singing what a faithful God have I.
What a faithful God have I,
What a faithful God.
What a faithful God have I,
Faithful in every way. Amen.

God Blesses & Gives Joy

Backgrounder on Psalms 84-89:
These psalms are petitions to God:
satisfy us again (Ps 84), revive us
again (Ps 85) hear us again (Ps 86)
gather us again (Psalm 87),
encourage us again (Psalm 88)
and make us sing again (Ps 89).
Each psalm ends with a benediction
of confidence that God will do that
in response to prayers of His pple.

Lord, You Bless & Give Joy:
Blessed are those who dwell in Your
house… Blessed are those whose
strength comes from the Lord
who set their minds on a pilgrimage…
When they walk thru the Valley of
Weeping, it will become a place of
refreshing springs. They go from
strength to strength (Ps 84:4-7).
For a day in Your courts is better
than a thousand. I would rather
be a doorkeeper in the house of
my God than dwell in… wickedness.
For the Lord God is a sun and shield;
The Lord will give grace… no good
thing does He withhold from those
who do what is right… Blessed is
the man who trusts in You (v10-12).

Lord, I have tendency of near-
sightedness that keeps me
too focussed on worldly cares.
Give me an eternal perspective
on all that happens each day.
Set my mind and my heart on
You so that I can embrace Your
presence moment by moment.
For truly You O Lord are my
Strength and my hope. Amen.

Lord, a day in Your courts is better
than anywhere for in You we will     experience love, joy and peace.
Without doubt, our caring heavenly
Father will provide all our needs.
You are also my sun and shield,
guiding, enabling and protecting me.
Grant me Lord Your grace & favour
as I seek to do Your will. Amen.

Lord, I’m not at home here on
earth; for I’m just passing through.
Your presence is my destination,
and You have promised that
my joy will be found in You.
Lord, I know that You are not
withholding good things to us.
Grateful Lord that You will pour
out Your blessings even as I trust
in You and do what’s right. Amen

God Will Provide Our Needs

Backgrounder on Psalms 78-83:
The psalms of Asaph conclude
with six testimonies to the
greatness and faithfulness of
the God of Israel. He has kept
His promises in the past (Ps 78),
a comforting reminder in the face
of an uncertain future (Ps 79-80).
God is there (Ps 81) and is not
silent (Ps 82-83) when it comes
to overthrowing idols & enemies.

Lord, You will Provide Our Needs:
They tested God in their heart
by asking for the food of their fancy.
They spoke against God… Can He
give bread also? Can He provides
meat for His people (Ps 78:18-20).
The Lord heard this & was furious…
because they did not believe in God
and did not trust in his salvation.
Yet He opened the doors of
heaven and rained down manna.
God gave them all they could eat…
He also rained meat on them… So
they ate and were well filled(v21-29)
(And) He made His own people
go forth like sheep, and guided them
in the wilderness like a flock; and
He led them on safely, so that
they did not fear; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies(v52-53)

Lord, just like the Israelites we can
become so focused on some Desire
that it consume us and all we
could see was what we didn’t have.
But our Father knows our needs.
Lord we believe You even when
we don’t see Your provision yet.
So even when we don’t see any
hope on the horizon, we can rest
assured that the provision will
be there when we need it. Amen.

Lord, as You know all our needs,
we shall not be anxious about
anything, but in every situation,
by prayer with thanksgiving, we
shall present our requests to You.
For we are assured that our
God will Supply all our needs
according to His riches in glory.
And we live with contentment as
everything comes from You. Amen.

Lord Shepherd, grateful for guiding
us Your sheep through wilderness;
and protecting us against enemies.
And in gratitude, we also thank You
for Providing basic needs as well
as giving us good things which
make life great and wonderful.
Lord, You’re truly Jehovah Jireh
our Provider. Thank You for
Providing for us in the past,
this day and in the future. Amen.

Trusting God In Psalm 77 (May 16)

God who Performs Miracles

Backgrounder on Psalms 73-77:
In these five psalms by Asaph,
those who ignore God will find
their path slippery and their
prosperity short-lived (Ps 73 & 75)
By contrast, those who order their
lives according to God’s Word will
discover hope in the midst of havoc
(Ps 74) and resources to face every
situation victoriously (Ps 76 & 77).

Lord, You’re Able to Do Anything:
I cried out to God with my voice…
And He gave ear to me.
In the day of my trouble
I sought the Lord; My hand
was stretched out (Ps 77:1-2).
Has His mercy ceased?
Has His promise failed?
Has God forgotten
to be gracious? (v8-9).
I will remember the works
of the Lord; surely I will
remember Your wonders of old.
I will also meditate on all Your
work and talk of Your deeds…
You are the God who performs
miracles; You display Your Power
among the peoples (Ps 77:11-14).

Father God, You will always hear
us whenever we cry out to You,
for You are good and merciful.
In the day of trouble we’ll cry out
to You; our hands are extended
to You and will not be satisfied
until You answer has come.
For You are teaching us Your way
that You do just what You say
In Your time. In Jesus’ name.

Lord, in Your sovereignty, You may
choose not to deliver us from our
trials yet, then give us the ability
to hang on and keep Trusting You.
For we realise sometimes You may
be growing our faith muscles.
For You are ever so merciful and
Your promise has not ever failed.
Grant us Lord the strength to
endure crushing troubles until Your
chosen kairos timing arrives. Amen.

Lord, You’re Able to do
miracles and work wonders.
Remind me of Your limitless power.
Remind me of Your past deeds.
I serve a God who can do anything.
You demonstrate Your infinite
strengths among the nations.
Display that same might in my life.
For You love to do God-sized
things and nothing is too difficult
for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
