Praying thro Deut 8-11 (May 4)

Right Mentality for Obedience

Moses continues his review of
Israel’s history as an illustration
to the people of God’s faithfulness
through their 40-year wilderness
trek. God’s provision in the past
provides confidence for the future.
He will continue to do great things
for His people if they continue
to walk in obedience to Him.
But if they are disobedient, ignore
His commands and worship other
gods, God will judge their rebellion.

Father God, thank you for Moses’
second oration for holy living and
Principles for key areas of life.
Help us Holy Spirit to inculcate
the Right Mentality for Obedience.
Help us feed our spirit on Yr Word
and find True Satisfaction in You.
Help us to Teach Children to love
and honour you & be drawn to U.
Help us Not to be So Focussed
on ourselves but to Intercede also
for the need of Others. Amen.

Lord, we’ll find Satisfaction in You:
Remember how the Lord your God
led you through the wilderness for
these 40 yrs, testing you… whether
you would obey his commands…He
humbled u by letting u go hungry
and then feeding you with manna.
He did it to teach you that we do
not live by bread alone; rather we
live by every word that comes from
the mouth of the Lord. For all these
40 years your clothes didn’t wear
out and your feet didn’t blister.
Think about it. The Lord disciplines
you for your own good (Deut 8:1-5)
Lord, we realise we should be
more concerned about feeding
our spirits than feeding our bodies.
We will keep focus on the Lord
by feeding on the Word, remaining
committed to God and finding
True Satisfaction in You. Amen.

Lord, we will Intercede for others:
Moses feared the wrath of the
Lord for he was angry enough to
destroy you. But the Lord listened
to me…Likewise when the Lord sent
you from Kadesh Barnea saying:
Go up and possess the land which
I have given you, then you rebelled
against the Lord and you did not
believe Him nor obey His voice.
Thus I prostrated myself before
the Lord 40 days and 40 nights
because the Lord had said He
would destroy you (Deut 9:19-25).
HS, help me to be an intercessor.
Help me Not to be So Focussed
on myself and my situation that
I don’t Pray for the need of Others.
Give me strong faith to believe that
my prayers can make a difference
in their lives. Show me the people
I need to pray and how I should
specifically pray for them. Amen.

Lord, we’ll Teach Children Yr Truth:
Moses said: Commit yourselves
completely to these words of mine.
Teach them to your children. Talk
about them when you are at home..
so that you and your children may
flourish in the land the Lord swore
to give yr ancestors (Deut 11:18-21)
Lord, we want to love You with all
our heart and Lead Children to love
and honour You as well. Help us
to live in such a way that they will
be drawn to You. Show us how to
talk with children about Your truth,
teach them Your principles and
apply Yr word to their lives. Amen

Thanksgiving for 2 Tim 3 (May 3)

Thank God for Word of Life

Paul writes his 2nd letter to Tim
from prison with imminent death.
And yet the focus of Paul’s letter
is not on his own problems and
needs but on the problems and
needs of young Timothy who is
pastor of the church at Ephesus.
Paul, who has stood faithfully for
the Lord through his life, passes
on that same challenge to Timothy.
There’s no need to fear when
You serve the Lord of the universe
and endure hardship for His sake.

Lord, we Receive Your Word of Life:
All Scripture is inspired by God
and is useful to teach us what
us true and to make us realise
what is wrong in our lives.
It straightens us out and
teaches us to do what is right.
It is God’s way of preparing us
in every way, fully equipped for
every good thing God wants us
to do (2Tim 3:16-17). Amen.

Father God, You have shown us
in the Old Testament the need of
Man for redemption. Through the
gospels, You reveal the way to
salvation thro faith in Your Son.
And You have given us letters that
reveal Your heart & guide our lives.
Thank you for your inspired Word
which is more precious than
silver or gold. In His name, Amen.

Lord, thank you for not leaving us
to walk in darkness and for giving
us the light of yr Word to guide us.
Help me to cherish the wonderful
gift in your holy Scriptures and
to receive its teaching and
instruction for my life. And do
guide my prayers through the
inspiration of your Word. Amen.

Lord, thank you for revealing
Yourself to the world through
the Bible. Your Word is a trust-
worthy guide for life. Teach and
correct us. Prepare us spiritually
for whatever the future holds.
And we claim that Your Word
is alive and active and will be
our resource when in trouble.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Thanksgiving In 2 Tim 2 (May 2)

Thank God for His Faithfulness

Paul writes his 2nd letter to Tim
from prison with imminent death.
And yet the focus of Paul’s letter
is not on his own problems and
needs but on the problems and
needs of young Timothy who is
pastor of the church at Ephesus.
Paul, who has stood faithfully for
the Lord through his life, passes
on that same challenge to Timothy.
There’s no need to fear when
You serve the Lord of the universe
and endure hardship for His sake.

Lord, we will Pass On Your Truths:
You have heard me teach many
things that have been confirmed
by many reliable witnesses. Teach
these great truths to trustworthy
people who are able to Pass
Them On to others (2 Tim 2:2).
And as Christ’s soldiers, do not
let yourself become tied up in
the affairs of this life… Follow the
Lord’s rules for doing his work,
just as an athlete either follows
the rules or is disqualified and
wins no prize. Hardworking farmers
enjoy the fruit of their labour (v3-6)
If we endure hardship, we will reign
with Him… If we are unfaithful,
He Remains Faithful, for He cannot
deny who He is (v12-13). Amen.

Lord, thank you for the blessed
privilege of being used by your
Holy Spirit in the lives of others.
Prepare the hearts of those to
whom you are calling me to
witness or to encourage or edify.
Give me boldness mingled with
love; and let me not miss or shy
away from any opportunity to
Pass On to others the great truths
that have changed my life. Amen.

Lord, we realise living a life of
faith requires much endurance.
Help us to endure the hardship
and restrictions of a soldier.
Help us to be like a good athlete
who follows the rules of the sport.
Help us be like a farmer who is
hardworking to taste the fruit
of his labour. Grant us the grace
of perseverance, discipline and
hardwork for Your glory. Amen.

Lord, we praise you that your
Faithfulness to us eternal.
Thank you for being eternally
devoted to me. When I cannot
sense your presence or see You
at work in the circumstances,
help me to remember that You’re
in control, that u are still there
and that U will never let me go.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Thanksgiving In 1 Tim 1 (May 1)

Thank God for Being Patient

Timothy ministered alongside
with Paul as a missionary and
later received the challenging
assignment of pastoring the church
at Ephesus. Paul’s first letter
resembles a manual for building
church leadership. More generally,
it’s rich in principles for anyone who
wishes to impact the lives of others

Lord, You are Patient towards Us:
This is a faithful saying that Christ
Jesus came into the world to save
sinners (and) display His Immense
Patience as an example for those
who would believe in Him and
receive eternal life (1Tim 1:15-16).
(May) the prophetic words spoken
earlier…help you fight well in the
Lord’s battles; having Faith and a
good conscience (v18-19). Amen.

Lord, thank you for showing mercy
and not treating me as my sins
deserve. Just as You are Patient
toward sinners; help me to Be
Patient towards others. Help me
use my testimony to encourage
others to seek Your mercy and
Your grace. For I know that
what you have done on my life,
You will also do for others. Amen.

Lord, with all the distractions
and obstacles coming against us,
it will be difficult to stay on course
following the Master. When the
going gets tough, I’ll purpose to
Hold on to Your Word for my life.
I won’t depart from it, no matter
what contradictions I hear or think.
Help me to keep focused & pursue
the calling You have given. Amen.

Lord, thank you for all that You
have done for us. And out of
gratitude we want to serve You.
But we realise that right beliefs
and right behaviour are critical.
Help me be wholly committed to U;
help me Be Patient as You are; and
help me Hold On in Faith to Your
Word for me. In Jesus’ name, Amen

TG for Establishing Good Work

Paul commended Thessalonpians
for their faithfulness in midst
of persecution and encouraging
them that present suffering
will be repaid with future glory.
Paul also clarified the Day of
the Lord had not yet arrived,
and recounts the events which
must take place first. Labouring
for the gospel, rather than lazy
resignation, can be the only
proper response to such truth.

Lord, we purpose to Be Holy:
God chose you for salvation
through the Sanctifying work
of the Spirit and through belief
in the truth… Therefore stand fast
and hold the traditions which you
were taught. Now may our Lord
Jesus Himself..Comfort your hearts
and Establish u in every good word
and work (2 Thess 2:13-17). Amen.

Lord, we praise You for you are
perfect and Holy. I choose to trust
that You Already See me as Holy
for through Christ’s death, I am
presented holy and free from
accusation. And the sanctifying
work of the Spirit in my life and
thro believing the truth will help
me Mature In Holiness. Amen.

Lord, grateful for good Christian
friends who can offer counsel
and help. And thanks for Your
Word to bolster us in times
of trouble. And best of all, we
have Jesus himself inside us to
comfort & strengthen us to face
anything and provide all we need.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

What a friend we have in Jesus
all our sins and grieves to bear
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer
Oh what peace we often forfeit
oh what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
everything to God in prayer.
Have we trials and temptations
Is there trouble anywhere
If we have don’t be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer. Amen

Thanksgiving In 1 Thess 1 (Apr 29)

Thank God for Honouring Faith

Lord, we will Place Faith In You:
We always thank God for all of
you and Pray for you constantly.
We remember before our God
and Father your work produced
By Faith, your labour prompted
by love, and your endurance
inspired by hope in our Lord
Jesus Christ (1Thess 1:2-3).
You received the message with
joy from the Holy Spirit in spite of
the severe suffering… In this way,
you Imitated the Lord. As a result,
you have become an example to
all believers in Greece (v6-7) Amen

Lord, I thank you for the gift of
direct access to You in Prayer.
Help me to model Paul who
encourages the Thessalonian
believers for their faith and love.
Bless my loved ones and friends
and draw them into ever closer
relationship with You. And help me
to be faithful in Praying for them
constantly as long as I live. Amen.

Lord, we were created ultimately
to honour U our Heavenly Father.
And exercising simple Faith helps
us do that for Faith is demonstrated
by seeking after You. And Trusting
You to see us through in hard
times brings You glory. Give me
a sincere heart and a faith that
pursues You; for living for You My
Master is what I should do. Amen.

Praying thro Deut 5-7 (Apr 28)

Principles for Godly Living

After reviewing the history of
Israel’s journey, Moses recounts
the Ten Commandments and
other laws given to the Israelites
at Mount Sinai. Moses urges them
to obey God’s law and reminds
them of the consequences
of disobeying them. The Ten
Commandments and all of
God’s laws point out to us where
we fall short and show us How
we should Live as God’s people.

Dear Lord, thank you for Moses
Second Address which gives
us Principles for godly living
and obedience to Your word.
Help us purpose in our heart
to Follow Your Instructions.
Help us Love You wholeheartedly.
Help us Emulate Your Faithfulness.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, we’ll Follow Your Instructions:
The… elders of Israel said: If the
Lord our God speaks to us again,
we will certainly die & be consumed
by this awesome fire (Deut 5:25).
You must be careful to obey all
the commands of the Lord your
God, following His instructions
in every detail (Deut 5:32).
Lord, forgive me for treating
Your words casually. For they are
absolute truth, and our anchor in
this world. Help me follow You
from my heart. And I resolve to
persevere and not lose heart,
no matter what obstacles stand
in the way or what fears to hold
me back. And please reward me
clearly enough and often enough
to keep me coming to Your throne
boldly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, we’ll Love U Wholeheartedly:
You must love the Lord your God
with all your heart, all your soul
and all your Strength. And you must
commit yourselves wholeheartedly
to these commands that I am giving
you today. Repeat them again and
again to your children (Deut 6:5-7).
Lord, help me to love You with
all my heart, soul and strength. For
I have not yet been wholeheartedly
committed to Your commands or
made them a consistent part of
my life. Lord, loosen my tongue
to speak about our need for Your
grace and forgiveness, as well as
the confidence that You’ll supply
both to us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord,we’ll Emulate Your Faithfulness
It was simply that the Lord loves
you and He was keeping the oath
He had sworn to your ancestors.
That is why the Lord rescued you
with such a strong hand from
slavery and from the oppressive
hand of Pharaoh… Know therefore
the Lord your God is God; He is the
faithful God, keeping His covenant
to…those who love Him and keep
His commandments (Deut 7:7-9).
Lord, thank You for being faithful;
for You keep all Your promises; and
none of Your promises will ever fail.
Help me to exhibit faithfulness
in my relationships with others.
Help me to be known as a faithful
person, who keeps my word.
And help me to continue to trust
You unwaveringly and so receive
what You have promised. Amen.

Praying thro Deut 1-4 (April 27)

Remember What God Has Done

Backgrounder: God has led his
people out of Egypt and across
the great desert. Now they stand
ready to enter the promised land.
But before the Israelites go into
the land, Moses has impt advice to them which he delivers in 3 parts. In the 1st part, Moses reviews the
history of God’s previous care for
the people of Israel. Through God’s
actions in the past, we can learn
about the God we serve today.

Dear Lord, You want Your people
to place holiness as a way of life &
Be Obedient to You in every action.
Help us to purpose in our heart
Not be Afraid but Trust You God
by remembering Your mighty acts.
Help us always Hallow Your laws,
regularly worshipping & thanking
You for what Christ had done.
Help us Pray to Draw Close to You.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, we purpose Not Be Afraid:
Then we came to Kadesh Barnea…
And every one of you said: Let us
send men to search out the land
to find the way we should go up…
They also took some of the fruit
of the land and brought back word
saying: It is a good land which
the Lord our God is giving us.
Nevertheless you would not go up
but rebelled against the command
of the Lord & u complained in your
tents. Then I said: Don’t be afraid
of them. The Lord who goes before
you, He will fight for u (D1:19-30).
Lord, thank U for all the things that
You have done for me in the past,
that You are doing for me today &
that U will do for me in the future.
Keep me fr Fear & Discouragement
as I look at the challenges ahead.
Thank You that You go before me.
I look to you for guidance so I may
possess all You have for me. Amen.

Lord, we will Remember Your Laws: And now Israel listen carefully to
these regulations that I am about
to teach you. Obey them so that
you may live, so you may enter and
occupy the land that the Lord is
giving u. You saw for yourselves what the Lord did to u at Baal-Peor.
There the Lord your God destroyed
everyone who had worshipped
Baal the god of Peor. But all of you
who were faithful are still alive.
Look I now teach u these degrees
and regulations, so that you may
obey them in the land you are
about to enter and occupy (D4:1-5)
Lord, we will remember your laws,
in particular sacrifice of worship
to receive forgiveness. As Christ
made the ultimate sacrifice for sin,
we must now come to God for
forgiveness & thanking Him. Amen.

Lord, we’ll Pray to Draw Close to U:
Observe the laws carefully, for this
will show yr wisdom to the nations,
who will say: “Surely this great
nation is a wise and understanding
people.” What other nation is so
great as to have their god near
them the way the Lord our God is
Near us whenever we Pray to Him?
And what other nation is so great
as to have such righteous decrees
and laws as this body of laws I am
setting before you today? (D4:6-7).
Lord, we thank You for being Close
to us when we pray. Thank You
that You hear and will answer us.
Thank You that in Your presence
there is transformation for my soul
and my life. I Draw Close to U and
ask for an increasing sense of Your
presence. I ask that You will help
me to pray more and more every
day; and give me increasing faith
to believe for the answers. Amen.
