Thanksgiving in Deu 31-32 (Jan 11)

Thank God for Being Our Rock

With the covenant reestablished
and the nation poised at Jordan
River, Moses completes his
duties as leader of God’s people
by commissioning Joshua as his
successor with a sober warning.
To help the people remember
his message of life, Moses
records his final words as a song.

Lord, we proclaim You’re Our Rock:
Then Moses spoke in the hearing
of all the assembly of Israel
the words of this song (Deut 31:30)
Hear O earth words of my mouth
for I proclaim the name of the Lord:
Ascribe greatness to our God.
He is the Rock. His work is
perfect; and all his ways are just.
A faithful God who does no wrong,
upright and just is He (Deut 32:1-4)

Thanksgiving in Deut 30 (Jan 10)

Thank God for Being Our Restorer

Moses has come to the climax
in his address to the nation –
the time for a recommitment
of the people to the covenant.
He reminds the new generation
that the potential for God’s richest
blessing awaits them as well as
potential for judgment. It depends
on their submissive response to
the demands of the covenant.
Dramatically Moses delivers the
challenge: I have set before you
life and death… choose life.

God Will Restore everything u lost;
He will have compassion on you;
He will come back and Pick Up
the pieces from all the places
where you were scattered.
No matter how far away u end up,
God, your God, will get you out of
there & bring you back to the land
your ancestors once possessed.
It will be Yours Again (Deut 30:3-5)

Thanksgiving in Deut 7 (Jan 9)

Thank God for His Faithfulness

Moses’ second sermon begins in
chap 5 & extends thro Chap 26.
He opens with a repetition of the
Ten Commandments and exhorts
the people to obey the Lord from
a heart of love, to teach their
children obedience and to be
careful not to forget the Lord in
times of prosperity. Victory over
the pagan occupants of Canaan
is assured as long as the people
faithfully obeys God’s commands.

All Praise be to The Faithful God:
It was because the Lord loved u
and kept the oath he swore to
your forefathers that he brought
you out with a mighty hand and
redeemed you from the land of
slavery, fr the power of Pharaoh
king of Egypt. Know therefore
that the Lord your God is God;
he is the faithful God El Emunah
who keeps covenant (Deut 7:8-9)

Thank God for Our Family

In the course of its rebellion,
humanity becomes so sinful
that God prepares to execute the
death sentence on the entire race.
In grace He directs Noah – a just
man who walks with God -to build
a ship in order to escape the
coming judgment. Noah obeys God
and while the flood waters purge
the earth, the ark preserves human
and animal life for a fresh start.

Lord, with your help, we purpose to
impress your word on our children
as much as we can for You said:
The Lord our God, the Lord is one!
You shall love the Lord your God
with all your heart, with all your
soul and with all your strength.
And these words which I command
you today shall be in your hearts.
You shall teach them diligently to
your children (Deut 6:5-7). Amen.

Thanksgiving in Deut 2 (Jan 7)

Thank God for His Provision

In the first of 3 sermons to the
nation, Moses begins with review
of the past, including His Provision.
God had promised His people
a new homeland, but Israel failed
to possess it because of unbelief.
For 40 years they had wandered
and died. Now with the passing
of that unbelieving generation,
God has led the nation in victories
over Sihon & Og, bringing them to
the threshold of the land again.

Lord, we ask for Your Provision:
The LORD your God has blessed
you in all that you have done;
He has known your wanderings
through this great wilderness.
These forty years the LORD your
God has been with you; you have
not lacked a thing (Deut 2:7) Amen

Praying thro Genesis 3-5 (Jan 6)

God Desires Fellowship

The perfect environment into
which man was placed is now
shattered by the entrance of sin.
Satan, posing as the subtle serpent
challenges God’s only prohibition
on man’s use of the garden.
Disobedience follows as the first
family eats from the forbidden tree
and is expelled from the garden.
The results of their sin spread as
humankind and the whole creation
fall under the penalty of death.
Cain becomes the first murderer
& the downward spiral continues
from Adam to Noah paving the
way for God’s judgment upon
the wickedness of the world.

Lord, we praise U for your love,
making us in your image,
giving us freewill to obey you,
providing our every need and
wanting close fellowship with us.
Lord, thank you for not only
redeeming us from the penalty
of sin but also empowering us
from the effects of sin. Lord,
we purpose to Draw Near to You;
we purpose to Hear Your Voice &
we purpose to Walk with You. Amen

Thanksgiving in Exodus 9 (Jan 3)

Thank God for Purpose In Life

When a person will not obey God
willingly, God will often bring to
bear circumstances that force
him to obey God unwillingly.
Such is the case with reluctant
Pharaoh of Egypt. God sends
a series of national calamities
to impress upon Pharaoh the
importance of obedience.

Lord, thank U for Purpose in Life:
Then the Lord said to Moses:
Stand before Pharaoh and say
to him: Thus says the Lord God
of the Hebrews: Let My people
go that they may (worship) Me…
Indeed for this Purpose I have
raised you up, that I may show
My power in you, and that
My name may be declared in
all the earth (Ex 9:13-16) Amen.

Thanksgiving In Gen 1-2 (Jan 2)

Thank God for Gift of Life

The first two chapters of the
Bible begin at “the beginning”.
Chapter 1 gives a concise overview
of the progress of creation,
climaxing in the creation of man.
Chapter 2 takes a zoom-lens look
at day six. There the details emerge
of how God’s image-bearers were
created – man from the dust of
the ground & woman from his rib.

Lord, thank You for Creating Us:
Then God said: Let Us Make man
in Our Image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion
over all the earth (Gen 1:26).
Then God saw everything
that He had made, and indeed
it was Very Good (Gen 1:31).
And the Lord God formed man
of the dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the
breadth of life; and man became
a Living Being (Gen 2:7). Amen.
