Gospel Truth in Mark 4 (Oct 16)

Be Wholehearted & Trusting

Through both His words (parables)
and works (miracles), Christ
proclaims His true identity to
the disciples and the multitudes.
At first even His closest
companions are perplexed by
His power & authority, wondering:
What manner of man is this,
that even the wind and the sea
obey Him (4:41). But patiently –
through the miracles of exorcism,
healing and even raising the dead
the Master Servant works to
convince His followers of the
nature of His person and mission.

Lord, thank you for Mark gospel,
which captures two purposes of
Christ coming to earth: to minister
& give his life a ransom for many.
Grant us grace to be like Jesus,
to have a servant mindset,
to have ready heart for His Word &
to Trust Fully His Word. Amen.

Gospel Truth in Mark 3 (Oct 15)

Put the Lord In Top Priority

Mark begins his gospel without
genealogy, birth narrative or any
prologue. He begins with the
ministry of John the Baptist, the
forerunner who would prepare
the way for Jesus’ ministry of
Servanthood. Mark’s emphasis
throughout is on Christ’s works
rather than His words, as befitting
a Servant. Numerous miracles
of healing and exorcism precede
the personal calls of five disciples
– Andrew, Peter, James, John
and Matthew – and His choosing
of the seven other disciples.

Lord Jesus, You did not come
as a conquering king but as a
Servant. May Your example cause
us be willing to serve God & others.
Lord, we note worthy examples
in Mark 3 to be God Seeking
and putting you first & foremost.
Help us Prioritise Helping People.
Help us Prioritise Time With You.
Help us Prioritise You over others.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

  • Be People of Faith In God

Mark begins his gospel without

Lord, help us be People of Faith:
When He had come home, many
gathered that there was No Room
left, not even outside the door.
Some men bringing a paralytic
could not get him to Jesus due to
the crowd, they made an opening
in the roof above Jesus & lowered
the mat the paralysed man was
lying. When Jesus saw their Faith,
He said to the paralytic: Son your
sins are Forgiven… Take up your
mat and go home. Immediately
he arose, took up the mat and
went out in the presence of them
all, so that all were amazed and
glorified God (Mk 2:1-12). Amen.

Preview on the Gospels (Oct 13)

Preview on the Gospels

Friends, we have completed four
topical devotion series on Praying
through God’s Promises, Knowing,
Thanking & Praising God as well as
a two-year chronological coverage
of the Bible. Before starting an
expanded three year exposition
on the Bible in January, today
we launch the fifth topical series
on Praying through the Gospels.

The Gospel is the good news that
God in Jesus Christ has fulfilled
His promises to Israel, and that a
way of salvation has been opened
to all. But the Gospel is not just
about salvation in terms of eternal
and abundant life, it is also about
the power of God and much more.
We will learn more of what the
Gospel offers and what it entails
to live out the Gospel as we
meditate on the four gospels.

Dear Almighty & All-Loving God,
I pray even as Yr People meditate
on the holy and precious Gospel
that Your Spirit minister to their
soul and Will Energise them;
that they Will Experience
the blessings of a praying life;
that their Faith Will Arise and
they Will Trust & Obey You more
each day. In His name, Amen.

God’s Promise in Rev 21 (Oct 12)

God Promises Everything New

Following the catastrophic
judgments of the seven vials,
John sees the doom of Babylon.
And a great multitude sings but
praises to God in anticipation of
the marriage supper of the Lamb.
A white horse emerges, mounted
by the King of Kings who destroys
the beast and the false prophet..
setting the stage for the coming
of a new heaven and new earth.
Once again God and his people
live in intimate fellowship. Amen.

Lord, You make All Things New:
And I heard a loud voice from the
throne saying: Look God’s dwelling
place is now among the people,
and He Will Dwell with them…
And God will wipe every tear from
their eyes. There will be no more
death or mourning or pain, for the
former things have passed away.
… I am making everything New!
… these words are trustworthy
and true (Rev 21:3-5). And the
city has no need of sun and moon
for the glory of God illuminates
the city and the Lamb is its light.
The nations of the earth will
Walk in its Light (v23-24). Amen.

God Promises Victory Over Evil

Following the catastrophic

A white horse emerges, mounted
by the King of Kings who destroys

Lord, You Triumph Over Evil:
Then I saw an angel coming down
from heaven with the key to the
bottomless pit and a heavy chain
in his hand. He seized the dragon..
who is the devil and bound him
in chains (Rev 20:1-2). The Devil
who betrayed them was thrown into
the lake of fire… joining the beast
and the false prophets. There they
will be tormented forever & ever.
And I saw a great white throne,
and I saw the one who was
sitting on it (v10-11). Amen.

God who is Great & Marvellous

Backgrounder on Revelation 8-16:
The 7th seal is broken, revealing
7 Trumpets. As each is sounded,
natural and heavenly disasters
once again result: hail, fire, falling
stars, death, darkness, torment-
plagues which cause people to
seek death but not find it…Then
Seven angels emerge with the
seven last plagues, which involve
boils, blood, scorching heat,
darkness, pain, earthquakes,
hailstones & titanic confrontation
at a place called Armageddon.

Lord, U are Great & Marvelous:
Great and marvellous are your
actions, Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations. Who will
not fear O Lord & Glorify Yr name?
For You alone are holy. All nations
will come and worship before You
for Your righteous deeds have
been revealed (Rev 15:3-4) Amen.

God Longs to be Close to You

John writes to the seven churches
in Asia Minor to address their
scriptural need. Each message
begins with the expression:
I know thy works; each contains a
promise: to him that overcometh;
each concludes with the warning:
He that hath ear, let him hear what
the Spirit says to the churches.
In short, John sends words of
reproof and reassurance from
Jesus Christ, the Alpha & Omega.

Lord, we will Draw Near to You:
I will never erase their names
from the Book of Life, but I will
announce before my father…
that they are mine (Rev 3:5).
As many as I love, I rebuke and
chasten. Therefore be zealous
and repent. Behold I stand at the
door and knock. If anyone Hears
My voice and opens the door, I will
come in to him and dine with him
and he with Me (v19-20). Amen.

to serve His God and Father –
to Him be glory and power for
ever and ever! (Rev 1:5-6) Amen.
