Gospel Truth in Mk 14-16 (Oct26)

Obedience to the Father’s Will

Lord Jesus, In your Last Week on
earth, U Prepared the disciples
for the Last Days by telling them
to take up their cross (M8:34).
You performed startling miracles
including transfiguration (M9:2)
and urged them to Have Faith in
God and not doubt (M11:22-23).
U taught the most Impt teaching
to love the Lord wholeheartedly
and to love others (M12:30-31).
And you prophesied earthquakes,
famines, lawlessness (Mark 13:8);
gospel spread to all nations (v10);
severe persecutions before you in
your mercy shortened it (v11-20);
false prophets, cosmic signs just
before your coming in the clouds
to gather your elect (v21-27). And
urge watchfulness & dependence
on God, You said My words will
not pass away (Mark 13:28-37).

Lord, having thoroughly prepared
the disciples, your actions in the
Final Day on earth shows you are
Fully Obedient to the Father’s Will
to Give Yr Live as ransom (M10:45)
At the Last Supper, U said one of
u who eats with me will betray me
(M14:18) & yet U did not stop him.
You greatly desire to get out of
the intense suffering and yet You
went to Gethsemane to pray: Not
what I will but what You will (v36).
You chose to surrender to the
Father’s will in loving obedience.

The Lord Is Coming Back Soon?!

Sermons of the Servant (Mk 11-13)
The final week of Jesus’ earthly
life dawns; that period of time
which occupies more space in
the Gospels than any other stage
of Jesus’ ministry. His arrival in
Jerusalem coincides with the
preparations for the Feast of
Passover. Though events move
quickly, Jesus is never hurried.
There is time to clean the temple,
watch the widow contributes
her two mites, and give final
instructions to the disciples.

Lord, You are Coming Back:
Everyone will see the Son of Man
coming on the clouds with great
power and glory. And He will send
out his angels to gather his chosen
ones from all over the world.
(Mk13:26-27). Since u don’t know
when (these things) will happen,
stay alert and keep watch.
The coming of the Son of Man
can be compared with that
of a man who left home to go
on a trip. He gave each of his
employees instructions about
the work they were to do, and
He told the gatekeeper to watch
for his return. So keep a sharp
lookout! For you do not know
when the homeowner will return
– at evening, midnight, early dawn
or late daybreak. Don’t let him
find you sleeping when he arrives
without warning (v33-36) Amen.

Love the Lord Wholeheartedly

Lord, we Love You Wholeheartedly:
(A teacher of religious law asked
Jesus): Of all the commandments
which is the most important?
Jesus replied: You must love
the Lord your God with all
your heart, all your soul, all
your mind and all your strength.
The second is equally important:
Love your neighbour as yourself.
No other commandment is greater
than these (Mark 12:28-31).
(Jesus) called his disciples to him
and said: I assure you, this poor
widow has given more than all
the others have given. For they
gave a tiny part of their surplus,
but she poor as she is, has given
everything she has (v43-44) Amen

Praying Without Doubt Nor Grudge

Sermons of the Servant (Mk 11-13)

Passover. Though events move

There is time to clean the temple,

Lord, we ask not doubt nor grudge:
Jesus said: Have faith in God.
For assuredly I say to you,
whoever says to this mountain,
be removed and be cast into
the sea and does not doubt,
but believes that those things
he says will be done, he will have
whatever he says. Therefore,
You can pray for anything, and
if you believe, you will have it.
But when you are praying,
first forgive anyone you are
holding a grudge against, so that
your Father in heaven will forgive
your sins too (Mark 11:22-25).

Trust God & Pray In Faith

Sayings of the Servant (Mk 8-10):
As opposition to Jesus’ ministry
increases, it is no longer safe
to move openly in Galilee. So
Jesus traverses the regions of
Decapolis, Caesarea & Perea,
thereby avoiding the crowds and
deadly plots of religious leaders.
In the concluding days of His
earthly ministry, Jesus begins
to prepare His disciples for the
faithful journey to Jerusalem
that will mark the end of His life
and the beginning of their role
as bearers of the glad tidings.

Lord, we will Pray In Faith:
Looking at the man, Jesus felt
genuine love for him. He told him:
give money to the poor & you will
have treasure in heaven. Then
come, Follow Me (Mark 10:21).
Jesus looked at them and said:
With man this is impossible,
but not with God; all things are
Possible With God (Mark 10:27).
What do you want me to do?
Jesus asked. Teacher, the
blind man said: I want to see!
And Jesus said to him: Go your
way, Your Faith has healed you.
And instantly the blind man
could see (Mark 10:51-52) Amen.

Don’t Doubt but Pray In Faith

Lord, we’ll not doubt but Believe:
Teacher, my son has a mute spirit.
I spoke to Your disciples that
they should cast it out but they
could not… The evil spirit often
makes him fall into the fire or
into the water, trying to kill him.
Have mercy on us and help us.
Do something if you can. “What
do you mean: If I can?”Jesus asked
Anything is possible if a person
believes. The father instantly
replied: I do believe, but help
me not to doubt (Mk9:22-24).
His disciples asked Him privately:
Why could we not cast it out?
So He said to them: This kind can
come out by nothing but prayer
and fasting (Mark 9:29). Amen.

Be Inwardly Sincere & Humble

Through both His words and works,
Christ proclaims His true identity
to the disciples and the multitudes.
At first even His companions are
perplexed by His power & authority,
wondering: What manner of man
is this, that even the wind and
the sea obey Him. But patiently –
through the miracles of exorcism,
healing and even raising the dead
the Master Servant works to
convince His followers of the
nature of His person and mission.

Lord, thank you for Mark gospel,
which proclaims Christ thro His
ministry of power and authority
and yet with a servant mindset.
Lord, help us to Share Your Story;
help us to be Sincere & Honest;
help us to Guard our Inner Life &
help us to be Humble. Amen.

Be Caring & Compassionate

Through both His words and works,

nature of His person and mission.

Lord, we will be Compassionate:
(Jesus) said to them: Come with
me by yourself to a quiet place
and get some rest. There were
many coming & going and they did
not even have time to eat (Mk6:31)
When Jesus landed and saw a
large crowd, He had compassion
on them, because they were
like sheep without a Shepherd.
So he began teaching them
many things (Mark 6:34).
By this time it was late in the day,
so his disciples said: Send the pple
away so that they can buy food to
eat. But Jesus answered: You give
them something to eat. (v35-36)
