Prayer Thot for the Day (Jul 25)

God Loves and Empowers You

Backgrounder on Ephesians 1-3:
The Ephesians had unlimited
spiritual wealth at their disposal,
yet they lived as spiritual paupers.
So Paul wrote to encourage
them to understand and claim
their heavenly resources. Only
then could they draw on them for
their earthly walk. And In Christ,
Christians are endowed with every
spiritual blessing as well as adoptn,
redemption, inheritance and power.

Lord, we seek Your Love & Power:
I pray that from His glorious,
unlimited resources, He will
empower you with inner strength
through His Spirit (Eph 3:16).
May your roots go down deep into
the soil of God’s marvellous Love.
And may you have the power
to understand, as all God’s people
should, how wide, how long, how
high & how deep His Love really is.
May you experience the love of
Christ, though it is so great you
will never fully understand it.
(Eph 3:17-19). Now to Him who
is Able to do immeasurably
more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His Power that is
at work within us (v20). Amen.

Lord, we will Be Your Workmen:
For by grace you have been saved
through faith, and that not of
yourselves; it is the gift of God…
For we are His workmanship,
created in Christ Jesus for good
works, which God Prepared
beforehand that we should
Walk in them (Eph 2:8-10) Amen.

God Reveals His Wonderful Plan

Lord, Enlighten Your Plans to us:
(I am) asking God, the glorious
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
to give you spiritual wisdom and
understanding, so that you might
grow in your Knowledge of God.
(I pray also) that the eyes of your
heart may be enlightened in order
that you may know the Hope
to which He has called you, the
riches of his glorious inheritance
in the saints, and his incomparably
great Power for us who believe
(Ephesians 1:17-19). Amen.

Praying thro 1 Timothy (Jul 22)

Managing God’s Household
(Prayer Walk thro 1 Tim 4-6)

Backgrounder: Timothy, a young
disciple discovered by Paul on
his second missionary journey,
enjoyed a unique relationship
with the apostle. Referred to
by Paul as his “beloved son”,
Timothy ministered alongside
with Paul as a missionary and
later received the challenging
assignment of pastoring the church
at Ephesus. Paul’s first letter
resembles a manual for building
church leadership and principles
to impact the lives of others.

Dear Lord, we realise that right
belief and right behaviour are
critical for anyone who serves.
Help us manage Your household
by knowing Your Word, obey it;
and be wholly committed to Christ.
Lord, help us Be Example of You;
Care and Honour our Elders and
Fight the Good Fight. Amen.

Preview on Pastoral Letters (Jul 21)

Preview on Paul’s Pastoral Letters

We have been Chronologically
covering the Bible. In the Gospels,
Jesus is being presented as
the obedient Servant in Mark,
the Savior of the world in Luke,
Israel’s Messianic King in Matthew
and the Son of God in John gospel.
We have also covered Acts which
chronicles Growth of the Church.
Then Paul urges the Galatians to
live by Faith alone, Thessalonians
to Serve ahead of Second Coming,
to Corinthians to Live Rightly,
to Romans Justification by Faith,
Ephesians living as Body of Christ
to Colossians Doctrinal Purity; and
to Philippians the Call to Unity.

Next, we go to the pastoral letters:
Timothy, a young disciple Paul
discovered on his 2nd missionary
journey (Act 16:1) enjoyed a unique
relationship with the apostle.
Referred to as his “own son in
the faith”, Timothy ministered
side by side with Paul as a
missionary, and later received
the challenging assignment of
pastoring the church at Ephesus.
Paul’s first letter to him resembles
a manual for building church
leadership. More generally, it is
a rich mine of principles for anyone
who wishes to have a spiritual
impact in the lives of others.

God Promises We Shall Reap

Backgrounder: Galatians is Paul’s
manifesto of justification by faith.
He directs this charter of Christian
freedom to people who are about
to forsake the priceless liberty they
possess in Christ. Jewish legalists
are influencing the believers in
Galatia to trade their freedom
in Christ for bondage to the law.
Paul writes to refute their false
gospel of works & to show the
superiority of justification by faith.

Lord, we will Not Lose Heart:
You will always Harvest what
you plant… But those who live
to please the Spirit will harvest
everlasting life (Gal 6:7-8).
And let us not grow weary while
doing good, for in due season we
Shall Reap if we Do Not Lose Heart.
Therefore, as we have opportunity,
let us do good to all, especially to
the household of faith (9-10) Amen

God Frees Us To Serve

gospel of works & to show the

Lord, we are Free to Serve You:
It is for freedom that Christ has
set us free. Stand firm then, and
do not let yourselves be burdened
again by a yoke of slavery (Gal 5:1)

not use your freedom to indulge
the fresh; rather serve one
another humbly in love (v13) Amen

Father God, we Love You:
When the set time had finally
come, God sent His Son, born
of a woman, born under the law,
to redeem those under the law,
that we might receive adoption
to sonship (Gal 4:4-5).
So you are no longer a slave,
but God’s child; and since you
are His child, God has made you
also an heir (Gal 4:7). Amen.
