Seeking God In Colossians 1

Prayer on Christ Living In Us

All is not well in Colosse. A heresy
that Jesus Christ is neither central
nor supreme is undermining
the church. Paul’s response to
these false teachings is two-fold.
First, he upholds Christ as the
preeminent Head of the church.
Next, he speaks out against the
rituals and man-made regulations.
which typify worship at Colosse.

Lord Jesus, You Live Within Us:
We ask God to give you complete
understanding of what he wants
to do in your lives, & make you wise
with spiritual wisdom… We also
pray that you will be strengthened
with His glorious power so that
you will have all the patience and
endurance you need. May you
be filled with joy, always thanking
the Father, who has enabled you to
share the inheritance that belongs
to God’s people (Col 1:9-12).
Everything was created thro Him &
for Him…that in all things He may
have the preeminence (v16-18).
This is the secret: Christ lives in u
and this is your assurance that you
will share in his glory (v27). Amen.

Lord, thank you for providing
a way for me to be enlightened
with the understanding of your
will and for desiring that I fully
grasp your purposes for my life!
Fill me with spiritual wisdom.
Strengthen me with your glorious
power so that I will have all the
patience and endurance I need.
And fill me with your joy so that
I will readily offer thanks to U. Amen

Lord, You’re Supreme & Almighty.
You created me for a reason; and
Help me be all that You created
me to be. Jesus, I adore You
not only for your sacrificial love,
but also condescending to live in
and thro me. Help me to let You
have the preeminence in all things.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, as I walk each day, may I be
aware that Jesus is actually living
in me by His Spirit. Though I may
not fully understand how that can
be, help me to realise that your
presence in me is a reality and
my life & hope. In that knowledge,
grant me the freedom to enjoy
this time together with You. Amen

Seeking God In Phil 4 (Nov 25)

Prayer for Peace & Provision

Despite adverse circumstances,
Philippians is an encouraging
letter in the midst of persecution.
Paul rejoices especially the church’s
steadfast testimony for the gospel.
Though that testimony is threatened
by divisions in the church, Paul is
confident unity will be restored as
they imitate the humility of Christ.
And Apostle Paul urges contentment
for God Will Supply all our needs.

Lord, You Will Provide Our Needs:
Be anxious for nothing but in every
-thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests
be made known to God; and the
peace of God which surpasses
all understanding will guard
your hearts and your minds.
And the God of peace will
be with you (Phil 4:6-7, 9).
I have learned the secret of being
Content in any and every situation,
whether well fed or hungry,
whether living in plenty or in want.
I can do all this through Him who
Gives me Strength (Phil 4:12-13).
This same God who takes
care of me Will Supply all your
Needs from His glorious riches,
which have been given to us
in Christ Jesus (Phil 4:19). Amen.

Lord, here is my worry and here
is my need; I give them to You,
and ask You to calm my anxious
heart and quiet my racing thoughts.
Help me refuse to think of what-ifs
thoughts; but Center them on Christ
Jesus, Your power and sufficiency.
Because I belong to You Lord, I know
that Your peace will guard my heart
and mind. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lord, Thank You that You are
the God who provides my needs.
Grant me the grace to live joyfully
whether I have much or little.
And grant me Lord the grace to
Be Content in all circumstances.
Thank You Lord for promising
that You will give me the strength
I need to follow Your will and join
You in Your work. In Jesus’ name.

Lord, Thank You for the promise
to Supply all our needs. That
wonderful guarantee & assurance
enables us to feel secure and
contented in our journey thru life.
For we don’t have to struggle
on our own for the Creator of the
universe covers us. And we’re given
access to You because of what
Christ had done on the cross. Amen

Seeking God In Phil 1/2 (Nov 24)

Prayer for Completion & Joy

Philippians is a joyful letter, written
by Paul from a prison cell in Rome
to one of the churches he founded
on his second missionary journey.
Despite Paul’s adverse situation,
Philippians is an encouraging
letter in the midst of persecution.
There is much for Paul to rejoice
about: the Philippians’ repeated
financial assistance, the hope of
visiting the Philippian believers
soon, and the church’s steadfast
testimony for the gospel.

Lord, You’ll Complete Good Work:
In all my prayers for all of you,
I always pray with joy because of
your partnership in the gospel…
Being confident of this, that He
who Began a good work in you
Will Carry it on to Completion until
the day of Christ Jesus (Phil 1:4-6).
That you may be able to discern
what is best and may be pure and
blameless until the day of Christ,
filled with fruit of righteousness
that comes through Christ (v9-11).
As you have always obeyed…
– continue to work out your
salvation with fear and trembling,
for it is God who works in you
to will and to act in order to fulfil
His good purpose (Phil 2:12-13).

Lord, I am eternally linked to You
by grace through faith & I am part
of Your body for You are the head.
Thank You Lord that my needs
are fully met in You. Forgive me
for the times when I think and act
as though You are not enough.
For You will bring to completion
the good work that You began.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, I praise You for Your great
salvation; for You not only took
away sin, but also gave me a new
nature that longs to please You.
Continue Lord Your work in me;
for there’s still a lot of rough edges
and glad You do not give up on me.
Look forward Lord to the day when
Your work in me is finally complete
and I’ll be blameless for Your glory.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, help me remember all that
I have learnt and to put my faith
into action in every part of my life.
Help me obey You with reverence;
for You Lord promise to work in me,
helping me to obey, even when I can’t
sense the desire to do what is right.
Grant me Lord new desire, give me
the power to live as I should; and
help me to hold on in faith. Amen.

Seeking God In Eph 6 (Nov 23)

Prayer as a Warrior’s Reserve

Walk Worthy of your calling…You
are rich in Christ, so live that way!
The Christian’s conduct should
be consistent with his calling.
You are rich in Christ, endowed
with spiritual blessings; so learn
to walk in the light of that wealth.
A spiritual war rages & those who
use the armour of God will be able
to stand agst Satan’s wily attacks.

Lord, we will Put On Your Armour:
Put On the full Armour of God
so that you can take your stand
against the devil’s schemes.
For our struggle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the… powers
of this dark world and against the
spiritual forces of evil (Eph 6:11-12).
Take Up the Shield of Faith, with
which you can extinguish all the
flaming arrows of the evil one.
Take the helmet of salvation
and the sword of the Spirit,
which is the word of God (v16-17).
And Pray in the Spirit on all
occasions with all kinds of prayers…
be alert and always keep on
praying for all the saints (v18).

Lord, I recognise because I have
aligned myself with You, the
enemy will wage war against me.
Help me Put On the full spiritual
Armour You have provided for me.
Help me understand the depth of
truth, righteousness, faith, a solid walk
with Christ, salvation, powerful prayer
and the sword of the Spirit Your Word.
Teach me how to use the armour
& perseverance practising it. Amen.

Lord, thank You for the Shield of
Faith to deflect Satan’s fiery arrows
and provide necessary protection.
Grant that assurance of salvation
will guard my mind amid difficulties
and doubts attempt to creep in.
Holy Spirit, enlighten my mind
to understand Your Word and
how it applies to my life. And
help me draw the sword when
Satan attacks with a lie. Amen.

Lord, enable us to know the
presence of Your Spirit within us
& walk in constant awareness of it.
May You freely live Your life in us,
express Your heartbeat to us
and Pray Your will through us.
We know Lord we simply can’t do
any of these on our own efforts,
but with You, nothing is impossible.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Seeking God In Eph 3 (Nov 22)

Prayer to Access Empowerment

The Ephesians had unlimited
spiritual wealth at their disposal,
yet they lived as spiritual paupers.
So Paul wrote to encourage
them to understand and claim
their heavenly resources. Only
then could they draw on them for
their earthly walk. And In Christ,
Christians are endowed with every
spiritual blessing as well as adoptn,
redemption, inheritance and power.

Lord, we Seek Your Empowerment:
We have boldness and access
with confidence thru faith in Him.
Therefore… do not lose heart…
I pray to the Father that from His
glorious unlimited resources, He
will empower you with inner strength
through His Spirit (Eph 3:12-16);
that Christ may dwell in
your hearts through faith;
that you being rooted… in love may
comprehend…the love of Christ…
that you may be filled with all
the fullness of God (v17-19).
Now to Him who is able to do
exceedingly abundantly above
all that we ask or think, according
to the power that works in us,
to Him be glory… forever (v20-21).

Lord, I have limited strength and
may not have much in reserve.
Even when I am strong, I will
still need to depend on You.
That’s more true when I am weak;
please show Yourself strong in me;
and fill me with the resources of God.
Holy Spirit, You who reside in me,
give me the strength and faith to
believe. In Jesus mighty name, Amen.

Lord, I want to understand and
experience Your love in a deeper
way than I ever have before.
May Your love be my secure
anchor as Your Spirit causes
my roots to sink deeper in You.
Grant me the power to understand
the limitless extent of Your love.
Be the center of my life and reveal
Yourself to me each day. Amen.

Lord, we exalt You for being awesome
possessing all wisdom and power.
Forgive us Lord for having just
a small view of You and Your will.
We affirm Lord You are Able to do
amazing things in and through us;
though they are not yet experienced.
Please bring it up to the level of Your
truth; and teach us to operate in the
Power that works within us. Amen.

Seeking God In Eph 1 (Nov 21)

Prayer for Revelation & Power

The Ephesians had unlimited

Christians are endowed with every
Spiritual Blessing as well as adoptn,

Lord, Enlighten Your Plans to us:
Praise be to the God and Father
of our Lord Jesus Christ, who
has blessed us… with every
spiritual blessing in Christ (Eph 1:3)
After I heard of your faith in the
Lord Jesus and your love for…
the saints, I do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention
of you in my prayers (v15-16). 
(I am) asking God… to give you
the spirit of wisdom & revelation
so that you might grow in your
Knowledge of God. (I pray also)
that the eyes of your heart may
Be Enlightened in order that you
may know the Hope to which He
has called you, the riches of His
glorious Inheritance… and His
incomparably great Power (v17-19)

Father God, all Praise and Thanks
to You for Your abundant blessings.
How easy it is to forget that You
are the source of every good thing
and that You Yourself are good.
Your goodness to me is not because
of any goodness on my part; but
because of Christ and Your grace.
Because of Christ, I have been
given every spiritual blessing I need.
When I feel empty and dry, remind
me that You stand ready to give
whatever that I may need. Amen.

Lord, I am awed to think that You
have provided a way to give us
good Spiritual Insight about the
character of God, the hope He has
given us and the dynamic power.
Lord I can’t perceive these things
with my own intellect for they are 
spiritual truths. So Holy Spirit,
open my eyes and flood my heart
to behold these truths. Amen.

Lord, I pray that the eyes of my
heart will Be Opened to see the
Hope to which You have called me.
Help me to understand my true
Inheritance; and enable me to
comprehend the magnitude of
Your power for I believe in You.
And I seek more of Your presence
and Your power so that I can see
them manifested in my life. Amen.

God Enables & Empowers Us

his authority and documenting the
source of his revelation. He then
praises God for what He has done
for Timothy & him. In contrast to
the old covenant which condemned
the glorious new covenant sealed
in Jesus’ own blood, makes
God’s ministers bold & effective
in calling people to repentance.

Lord, You Will Enable Us:
You are an epistle of Christ…
written by the Spirit of God…
Such confidence we have through
Christ. Not that we are sufficient
of ourselves to think of anything
as being from ourselves but our
sufficiency is fr God (2Cor 3:3-5).
Whenever someone turns to
the Lord, the veil is taken away…
So all of us who have had the veil
removed can see and reflect the
glory of the Lord. And the Lord…
makes us more and more like
Him as we are changed into
His glorious image (v16-18). 
This light & power that now shine
within us is held in our weak bodies
So everyone can see that our
glorious power is from God and
not our own. We are pressed on
every side by troubles but we are
not broken. We are perplexed but
we don’t give up and quit… God
never abandons us (2Cor 4:7-9).

Lord, I realise the areas which
I feel inadequate or struggle,
draw me to You. And that I am
able to accomplish what You ask
of me only through Your power.
Your Word shows You are my adequacy and my sufficiency.
Let my confidence always be in You
through Christ Jesus; and then
You will receive all praise. Amen.

Lord, thank you for loving me
enough to work in me. Make me
aware of Your presence and make
me cooperative with Your Spirit.
Give me unveiled encounters;
for I know there are no limits in
knowing You & be known by You.
I want to reflect more of Your glory; and although I may not see signs of change but pray others can. Amen.

Lord, Thank You for designing me
to be a clay jar with an amazing
treasure inside. Although the
circumstances may press me
down, You never abandon me.
May others see Your power and
light through my life. And may
You be glorified in my weakness in
this earthen vessel that I am.Amen.

Reflection on Corinthians (Nov 20)

Seeking God thru Biblical Prayers

The purpose of the book of 1Cor
is to teach believers how to live
for Christ in a corrupt society,
while that of 2Cor is to affirm Paul’s ministry and refute false teachers.
On Monday, we learn from 1Cor 2
that Spirit of God Gives Insights.
On Tuesday, we learn from 1Cor 10
that God Provides the Way Out.
On Wed, we learn from 1Cor 12/14
that Spirit Distributes Spiritual Gifts.
On Thursday, we learn from 2Cor 1
that God Comforts & Delivers Us.
On Friday, we learn from 2Cor 3/4
that God Enables & Empowers Us.
On Saturday, we learn from 2Cor 5
that God Guarantees & Boosts Calling.
Let us humble ourselves and pray
and seek His face. Help us O God to
be Christ’s disciples who live rightly
and share the gospel for You help,
deliver, enable & empower us. Amen.

Seeking God In 2Cor 5 (Nov 19)

Spirit Guarantees & Boosts Calling

Paul opens his 2nd epistle to the
Corinthians by establishing his
authority & source of his revelation.
He then praises God for what
He has done. In contrast to the
old covenant which condemned,
the glorious new covenant sealed
by Jesus’ own blood, makes
God’s ministers effective in
calling people to repentance.

Lord, we are Your Ambassadors:
God… has given us the Spirit as a
deposit,guaranteeing what’s to come.
Therefore we are always confident…
We live by faith, not by sight…
We make it our point to please Him…
For we must all appear before the
judgment seat of God that each
one may receive… according to
what he has done (2Cor 5:5-10).
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ
he is a new creation; old things
have passed away; behold all things
have become new (2 Cor 5:17).
God… has given us the ministry of
reconciliation. God was reconciling
the world to Himself in Christ, not
counting people’s sins against them.
And He has committed to us the
message of reconciliation. We are
therefore Christ’s ambassadors,
as though God were making His
appeal through us (2Cor 5:18-20).

Lord Jesus, Thank You for being
a perfect and wise judge and You
reign over the affairs of this world.
God, what a sobering thought that
nothing is hidden from Your sight.
Forgive us for the times we have
acted foolishly & made poor choices.
Grant us the grace to walk faithfully
and to trust that You will restore
what the locusts had taken. Amen.

Lord, Thank You for giving me new
life – a rich life that will never end.
Thank You Lord because I am
in Christ, the old me is gone
and I am empowered not to sin.
For because of You Lord,
I have become a brand new
person; and I have the capacity
to change and grow into the image
of Christ. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Father God, through Christ You
forgive sins and bring sinners back
into relationship with Yourself.
Thank You Lord for drawing me to
Yourself and saving me eternally.
You have given the gospel to me
so that I might share it to others.
As Your appointed ambassadors,
make us Lord to be bolder and
more engaging to those who
don’t yet know You. In Jesus’ name.
