Prayer Thots on 1 Peter 2 (Sep25)

God Sets You Free In Christ

Peter writes to scattered Jewish
Christians who are undergoing
intense persecution for their faith.
God has begotten us again unto a
living hope. So don’t be surprised
when suffering comes your way;
prepare & respond to it correctly.
Be sure you are doing what is right.
Imitate Christ in your submissive
spirit toward one another,
and God will richly reward you
when the trials of life are over.

Lord,we’ll live as Yr Special People:
But you are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
His own Special People, that you
may proclaim the praises of Him
who called you out of darkness
into His marvellous light (1Pet 2:9)
Live such good lives among
the pagans that…they may see
your good deeds & Glorify God
on the day he visits us (v12).
Live as Free People, but do not
use your freedom as a cover-up
for evil; live as God’s slaves (v16)

God Gives You Living Hope

Peter writes to scattered Jewish
Christians who are undergoing
intense persecution for their faith.
God has begotten us again unto a
living hope. So don’t be surprised
when suffering comes your way;
prepare & respond to it correctly.
Be sure you are doing what is right.
Imitate Christ in your submissive
spirit toward one another,
and God will richly reward you
when the trials of life are over.

Lord, we Claim Our Inheritance:
Praise be to the God…In His Great
Mercy He has given us new birth
into a Living Hope through the
resurrection of Christ fr the dead
into an inheritance that can never
perish… This inheritance is kept
in heaven for you (1Pet 1:3-4).
Now for a little while you may
have had to suffer grief in all
kinds of trials. These have come
so that the proven genuineness
of your faith – of Greater Worth
than gold…may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed (v6-7) Amen.

Praying thro Revelation (Sep 23)

Worshipping God & Seven Seals
(Prayer Walk thro Rev 4-7)

John describes visions depicting
activities in heaven and on earth.
God enthroned, holds a scroll
which is sealed with seven seals.
No one is found worthy to break
the seals and reveal the contents
of the scroll except Lion of Judah.
As the first six seals are broken,
calamities break forth upon the
earth involving warfare, famine,
death, earthquakes and heavenly
disturbances. The kings of earth
know too well the explanation of it
all. For the great day of his wrath is
come & who shall be able to stand?

Dear Lord, we praise for being
All Holy and Almighty and that
You will defeat all evil in the end.
Thanks that You have good plans
not only in the future but also now.
And we bow down in Worship;
help us as we Serve You; and
help us to Reign With You.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

God’s Word for Seven Churches
(Prayer Walk thro Rev 1-3)

After greeting the seven churches
in Asia Minor, John describes
how he received his orders to write.
Each church needs a particular
message, and John is commanded
to tailor his exhortation to fit each
scriptural need. Each message
begins with the expression: I know
thy works; each contains a promise
“to him that overcometh”; each
concludes with the warning:
He that hath ear, let him hear what
the Spirit says to the churches.
In short, John sends words of
reproof and reassurance from
Jesus Christ, the Alphs & Omega
to each of the seven churches.

Lord, thank you for the lessons
from the letter to seven churches.
We willingly receive Your charge
to constantly fight against the
temptation to become loveless,
immoral, lenient, compromising,
lifeless or casual about our faith.
Thank You for loving us so much
and wanting relationship with us.
We will Come Back to first love
and we will Draw Near to You.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Preview on Revelation (Sep 22)

Preview on Revelation

We have been Chronologically
covering the Bible phase by phase.
We start the Gospels, with Jesus
presented as the Perfect Servant,
Savior of the world, Messianic King
and the Son of God, before Acts
chronicles Growth of the Church.
Then Paul urges the Galatians to
live by Faith alone, Thessalonians
to Serve ahead of Second Coming,
to Corinthians to Live Rightly,
to Romans Justification by Faith,
to Eph Living as Body of Christ,
to Colossians Doctrinal Purity and
to Philippians Unity of the Spirit;
before Paul’s pastoral letters and
then pursing Maturity in Hebrews,
Practical Christianity in James,
Maturing thro tough times in 1/2Pet
Walking in Love in the 3 letters of
John & Keeping the Faith in Jude.

And finally we reach Revelation.
Just as the first book of the Bible
– Genesis – provides the opening
chapter of God’s redemptive
program, so the last book supplies
the conclusions as it describes
the return of Jesus Christ and
the creation of a new heaven
and earth. Revelation portrays
Jesus Christ as the victorious
King and coming Judge. Writing
from exile on the Island of Patmos,
John uses a dramatic series of
symbolic word pictures to capture
the awesome holiness of the
Lamb of God coming to defeat
Satan’s forces and judge the
world in perfect righteousness.

Prayer Thots on James 5 (Sep 21)

God Answers Prayers of Faith

Just as a human body that fails
to breathe is labelled a dead body,
so too a faith that fails to breathe
us labelled a dead faith. And the
breath of faith in the Christian life
is good works: demonstrating
concern for the poor, controlling
the tongue & building up others.
True faith & good works cannot be
divorced, for your life is the lab in
which your faith is shown to be real.

Lord, we will Keep On Praying:
Are there among you suffering?
They should keep on praying about
it. And those who have reason
to be thankful should continually
praises to the Lord (James 5:13).
The prayer offered in faith
will make the sick person well…
Therefore confess your sins to
each other and pray for each other
so that you may be healed. The
prayer of a righteous man is
powerful & effective (v15-16) Amen

Prayer Thots on James 4 (Sep 20)

God Wants to Draw Near to You

Just as a human body that fails
to breathe is labelled a dead body,
so too a faith that fails to breathe
us labelled a dead faith. And the
breath of faith in the Christian life
is good works: demonstrating
concern for the poor, controlling
the tongue & building up others.
True faith & good works cannot be
divorced, for your life is the lab in
which your faith is shown to be real.

Lord, we’ll Humbly Submit to You:
He gives more grace. Therefore
He says: God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.
Therefore submit to God. Resist
the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will
draw near to You (James 4:6-8).

Lord, keep me from being full of
myself, thinking myself better
or more important than others.
Also Help me not to worry
about keeping up with others.
Help me to humbly submit to You
and draw near to You each day;
for You show favour to the humble.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, may we know You to that
extent in the depths of our being.
Your voice is far deeper than
words for You Lord has ways
of making Your heartbeat known
to those whose hearts are tender.
And even as we purpose to yield
our hearts towards You, won’t
You share Your deepest impulses
with us. In His name, Amen.

Dear Lord, we realise You want
believers not only to hear the truth
but also to do it. Grant us grace
to Love You, Draw Close to You
and to Live Out our faith in You.
Help us Humbly Submit to You;
help us Depend solely on You &
help us Keep On Praying. Amen.

God Wants to Grant You Wisdom

Just as a human body that fails
to breathe is labelled a dead body,
so too a faith that fails to breathe
us labelled a dead faith. And the
breath of faith in the Christian life
is good works: demonstrating
concern for the poor, controlling
the tongue & building up others.
True faith & good works cannot be
divorced, for your life is the lab in
which your faith is shown to be real.

Lord, we’ll Seek Your Wisdom:
The wisdom that comes from
heaven is first of all pure. It is
also peace loving, gentle at all
times and willing to yield to others.
It is full of mercy and good deeds…
And those who are peacemakers
will plant seeds of peace and reap
a harvest of goodness (Jas 3:17-18)

Prayer Thots on James 2 (Sep 18)

God Wants to Befriend You

Just as a human body that fails
to breathe is labelled a dead body,
so too a faith that fails to breathe
us labelled a dead faith. And the
breath of faith in the Christian life
is good works: demonstrating
concern for the poor, controlling
the tongue, exhibiting a spirit of
humility and building up others.

Lord, we will Live Out our Faith:
What good is it… if someone
claims to have faith but has no
deeds?.. Faith by itself, if it is not
accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say: You have
faith; I have deeds. Show me your
faith without deeds, and I’ll show u
my faith by my deeds (Jas 2:14-18)
It happened just as the Scriptures
say: Abraham believed God, and
God counted him as righteous
because of his faith. He was even
called the friend of God (v23) Amen

God Helps You in times of Trouble

Just as a human body that fails
to breathe is labelled a dead body,
so too a faith that fails to breathe
us labelled a dead faith. And the
breath of faith in the Christian life
is good works: demonstrating
concern for the poor, controlling
the tongue, exhibiting a spirit of
humility and building up others.

Lord, we Seek You for Help:
Consider it pure joy whenever
You face trials of many kinds,
because u know that the testing of
Your faith produces Perseverance.
Let perseverance finish its work
do that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking anything.
If any of you Lacks Wisdom,
he should Ask God, who gives
generously to all without finding
fault, and it will be given to him.
But when he asks, he must believe
and not doubt (Jas 1:2-6). Amen.
