Praying thro Genesis 3-5 (Jan 6)

God Desires Fellowship

The perfect environment into
which man was placed is now
shattered by the entrance of sin.
Satan, posing as the subtle serpent
challenges God’s only prohibition
on man’s use of the garden.
Disobedience follows as the first
family eats from the forbidden tree
and is expelled from the garden.
The results of their sin spread as
humankind and the whole creation
fall under the penalty of death.
Cain becomes the first murderer
& the downward spiral continues
from Adam to Noah paving the
way for God’s judgment upon
the wickedness of the world.

Lord, we praise U for your love,
making us in your image,
giving us freewill to obey you,
providing our every need and
wanting close fellowship with us.
Lord, thank you for not only
redeeming us from the penalty
of sin but also empowering us
from the effects of sin. Lord,
we purpose to Draw Near to You;
we purpose to Hear Your Voice &
we purpose to Walk with You. Amen

in your creation of the universe &
the earth but also show that U love
and deeply care for our welfare.

Thanksgiving in Exo 14 & 15 (Jan 4)

Thank God for Giving Strength

Trapped between the Red Sea
and the rapidly approaching
chariots of Egypt, the people
cry out in desperation; and God
answers in a miraculous fashion.
The Red Sea parts, the nation
crosses over on dry ground,
and shouts of panic turn to hymn
of praise as the Egyptian army
disappears in a watery grave.

Lord, bless and give us Strength:
Then Moses stretched out his hand
over the sea; and the Lord caused
the sea to go back by a strong
east wind all that night and made
the sea into dry land & the waters
were divided… Thus Israel saw
the great work which the Lord had
done in Egypt; so the pple feared
the Lord and believed the Lord and
His servant Moses (Ex 14:21-31).
Then Moses and the children of
Israel sang this song to the Lord
and spoke saying: The Lord is
my strength and He has become
my salvation; He is my God, and
I will praise Him (Ex 15:1-2) Amen.

Thanksgiving in Exodus 9 (Jan 3)

Thank God for Purpose In Life

When a person will not obey God
willingly, God will often bring to
bear circumstances that force
him to obey God unwillingly.
Such is the case with reluctant
Pharaoh of Egypt. God sends
a series of national calamities
to impress upon Pharaoh the
importance of obedience.

Lord, thank U for Purpose in Life:
Then the Lord said to Moses:
Stand before Pharaoh and say
to him: Thus says the Lord God
of the Hebrews: Let My people
go that they may (worship) Me…
Indeed for this Purpose I have
raised you up, that I may show
My power in you, and that
My name may be declared in
all the earth (Ex 9:13-16) Amen.

Thanksgiving In Gen 1-2 (Jan 2)

Thank God for Gift of Life

The first two chapters of the
Bible begin at “the beginning”.
Chapter 1 gives a concise overview
of the progress of creation,
climaxing in the creation of man.
Chapter 2 takes a zoom-lens look
at day six. There the details emerge
of how God’s image-bearers were
created – man from the dust of
the ground & woman from his rib.

Lord, thank You for Creating Us:
Then God said: Let Us Make man
in Our Image, according to Our
likeness; let them have dominion
over all the earth (Gen 1:26).
Then God saw everything
that He had made, and indeed
it was Very Good (Gen 1:31).
And the Lord God formed man
of the dust of the ground and
breathed into his nostrils the
breadth of life; and man became
a Living Being (Gen 2:7). Amen.

Thanking God thro the Scripture

Thanking God for It’s Right (Jan 1)

Friends, Happy New Year !!
We start the new year by doing
the Right Thing, by Thanking God.
Often our prayers can degenerate
into list of needs presented to God.
Whilst I believe God loves to hear
about our needs, I also believe
that He loves for us to pray back
His Promises; pray commitment
and surrender to Him; as well as
to pray Praise and Thanksgiving!!

We have been utilising Scripture
to form prayers so that we learn
to think as God thinks; and pray
in a way that is pleasing to Him.
With Scripture as our guide, we’ll
also have balance in our prayers.
Having prayed Thro the Scripture
on Knowing Him, Praising Him,
claiming His Promises and Seeking
His Truths,we start 2019 with series
on Thanking God thro the Scripture.
Lord, we purpose to Thank You God
for it is the only Right thing to do:
for Gratitude sake, for it’s Your Will
and for we Belong to You. Amen.

Seeking God thro Gospel Truths

Believe & Obey the Lord (Dec 31)

Friends, we have completed series
on Seeking God thro Gospel Truths.
The Gospel is the good news that
God in Jesus Christ has fulfilled
His promises to Israel, and that a
way of salvation is opened to all.
But the Gospel is not just about
salvation & abundant life, it’s also
about the power of God & learning
to live Gospel Truths in gratitude.

Lord, I pray even as Your People
meditate on the precious Gospel
that Your Spirit minister to their
soul and Will Energise them;
that they Will Experience
the blessings of a praying life;
that their Faith Will Arise and
they Obey You more each day.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Gospel Truth in John 21 (Dec 30)

Christ Redirects & Refocuses Us

Following betrayal of Judas and
denial of Peter, John focuses on
the trial before Pilate & his futile
efforts to release Jesus. Yielding
to expediency, Pilate sentences
Jesus to be crucified. Many of the
details John includes are unique:
soldiers casting dice for Jesus’robe
the spear trust into Jesus’ side;
the post-resurrection appearances.
Thro it all, John clearly present
Jesus Christ as the Son of God
in His life, death and resurrection.

Lord, we will be Fishers of Men:
Jesus called out: Friends, have you
caught any fish? No, they replied.
Then he said: Throw out your net
on the right-hand side of the boat
and you’ll get plenty of fish!!
So they did, and they couldn’t
draw in the net because there
were so many fish in it (Jn 21:4-6)
(Peter) said: Lord, You know every
-thing. You know that I love You.
Jesus said:Then feed my sheep(17)
Peter…saw the disciple Jesus loved
…and asked Jesus: What about him
Lord? Jesus replied: If I want him to
remain until I return, what is that to
you? As for you, follow me (v20-22)

Gospel Truth in John 20 (Dec 29)

Christ Teaches Blind Faith In God

Following betrayal of Judas and
denial of Peter, John focuses on
the trial before Pilate & governor’s
futile efforts to release Jesus.
Yielding to political expediency
and mob pressure, Pilate sentences
Jesus to be crucified. Many of the
details John includes are unique:
soldiers casting dice for Jesus’robe
the spear trust into Jesus’ side;
the post-resurrection appearances
including to Thomas. Through it all,
John’s purpose shines forth clearly
to present Jesus as the Son of God
in His life, death and resurrection.

Lord, we’ll Believe without seeing:
And Thomas answered and said
to Him: My Lord and my God!
Then Jesus told him: Blessed are
those who have Not Seen and
yet Have Believed (Jn 20:28-29).
The disciples saw Jesus do many
other miraculous signs in addition
to the ones recorded in this book.
But these are written so that
you may continue to Believe
that Jesus is the Messiah, the
Son of God, and that By Believing
in him you will Have Life by the
power of his name (v30-31) Amen.
