In Psalm 103, the psalmist urges
you to Count Your Blessings. And
Psalms 98-102 provide plenty of
ideas to help you do just that by
focusing on the many things for
which you should be thankful:
your salvation (P98), answered
prayer (P99), God’s mercy and
truth (P100), God’s justice and
holiness (P101) and God’s Care
when you are downcast (P102).

Lord, You Bless Your People:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and
forget not all his benefits – who
forgives all your sins and heals
all your diseases… who satisfies
your desires with Good things
so that your youth is renewed like
the eagles (Ps 103:2-5). The Lord
is merciful & gracious,slow to
anger and abounding in mercy (v8)
The Lord is like a father to his
children, tender & Compassionate
to those who fear Him. For He knows how weak we are (v13-14).

God Shields & Shelters You.

Backgrounder on Psalms 90-97:
Altho the authors of most of these
psalms are unknown, the object
of their worship is well known:
the God of eternity (P90),
the God of Protection (P91),
the God of greatness (P92),
the God of majesty (P93),
the God of vengeance (P94),
the God of salvation (P95),
the God of glory (P96) and
the God of holiness (97).

Lord, You Shield & Shelter Us:
He who dwells in the secret place
of the Most High shall abide
under the Shadow of the Almighty.
He shall cover you with His
feathers and under His wings
you shall take refuge. His truth
shall be your Shield…(Ps 91:1-4).
If you make the Lord your refuge,
if you make the Most High your
Shelter, no evil will conquer you…
He will Order His Angels to protect
you wherever you go (Ps 91:9-11).

Imploring God thro His Promises: Significance Reinstated (Feb 11)

Dear Friends,
We have completed three months
of devotion on God’s Promises,
following three earlier series on
Adoring God thro Thanksgiving,
Knowing God’s thro His Names
and Praising God thro Hymns.
Before continuing in the series,
let’s pause to note the significance
of Imploring God on His Promises.

There are so much to pray about:
our dreams, hopes and plans.
But often we are held up by our
own doubts: Does God really
care about this request of ours?
How assuring to pray back to God
the promises found in His Word.
Then we no longer wonder if this
is something God cares about,for
He brought it up in the 1st place.

Praying thro Lamentations (Feb 10)

Lessons from Weeping Prophet
(Prayer Walk thro Lam 1-5)

Backgrounder: In Lamentations
the prophet Jeremiah turns to
poetry to express his deepest
emotions over the tragic fall of
Jerusalem. The book consists
of five poems. The prophet begins
by weeping over Jerusalem in the
midst of her destruction. But thro
his tears, Jeremiah turns his heart
to view the sovereign God behind
it all. As he considers God’s Control
of human affairs, Jeremiah is able
to shout victoriously: Great is thy
faithfulness (3:23) as he intercedes
for the restoration of the nation
after its punishment is complete.

Dear Lord, we learn in Lamentation
that to disobey You is to invite
disaster. But U are always Faithful
to Your people, ever merciful and
restoration is upmost in your plan.
Help us to Find Hope in sorrow
and See Your Timing Is Perfect for
U are Unchanging & Faithful. Amen

OT3B: 2K1-17: Israel Dispersion
as well as Jonah, Amos, Hosea,

Continuing, God’s warning had
come thro Prophet Jeremiah, but
the people of Judah refused to
listen. In 586BC as the Babylonian
army attacked, judgment was
poured out on the city and the
people were carried into exile.
Jerusalem lay ruined and empty.

For days Jeremiah lamented over
the city and its future. As he cries
out in the darkness of destruction,
Jeremiah is given a spark of hope.
God promises forgiveness & grace.
The period of judgment is limited
and in His mercy God will Restore
the city and Return the captives.

We’ll cover book of Lamentations
in one session. Lookout for it!

God Will Provide Our Needs

Backgrounder on Psalms 78-83:
The psalms of Asaph conclude
with six testimonies to the
greatness and faithfulness of
the God of Israel. He has kept
His promises in the past (P78),
a comforting reminder in the face
of an uncertain future (P79-80).
God is there (P81) and is not
silent (P82-83) when it comes
to overthrowing idols & enemies.

Lord, You will Provide Our Needs:
The Lord heard this and was furious… because they did not believe in God and did not trust
in his salvation. Yet He opened the doors of heaven and rained down manna. God gave them all they could eat (Psalm 78:21-25).
