Hearing God In Psa 28/29 (May 14)

The Lord Listens & Speaks

Backgrounder on Psalms 25-30:
As David penned these six psalms,
he thought of the multifaceted
character of God he served. The
Lord is Good & Upright (Ps25:8),
Judge (Psalm 26:1-2),
My Light (Psalm 27:1),
My Strength (Psalm 28:7),
King Forever (Psalm 29:10)
and My God (Psalm 30:2,12).

Lord, we Worship & Honour You:
Praise the Lord! For He has heard
my cry for mercy. The Lord is
my strength, my shield from
every danger. I trust in Him with
all my heart. He helps me and my
heart is filled with joy. I burst out in
songs of thanksgiving (Ps 28:6-7).
Give honor to the Lord you angels;
give honor to the Lord for His glory
and strength. Give honor to the
Lord for the glory of His name.
Worship the Lord in the splendour
of His holiness (Psalm 29:1-2).
The voice of the Lord is over the
waters; the God of glory thunders…
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full
of majesty (Psalm 29:3-4).

Father, thank You for hearing
my cry for mercy and my prayers.
Even when my situation remains
the same, grant me grace to trust
You and to thank You for Your
listening ear and Your gracious help.
Because of Your mercy, I will sing
songs of thanksgiving to You.
Because of Your help, may my
heart be filled with joy. Amen.

Lord, forgive me for sometimes
getting wrapped up in myself and
my tasks and forgetting to give
You credit for all You have done
in my life and the world around me.
Create in me a heart of worship;
and I will honour and worship You
for the glory of Your majestic name,
for Your amazing strength & might,
for the splendour of Your holiness.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, I am thankful that You
aren’t silent, that Your voice
thunders over the whole earth.
But it’s easy to become distracted
and fail to listen for Your leading.
Keep me from getting in the way
of Your glory by being prideful
and trusting in my own strength.
Instead lead me to hear Your voice
and make me quick to obey. Amen.
