Praising God In Heb 10 (Apr 15)

Blessed Assurance

Fanny Crosby wrote three hymns
each week during much of her
adult life, totalling more than 8,000
hymns. The fact that she was blind
didn’t diminish her productivity.
Phoebe Knapp composed a tune
in 1873 and brought it to Crosby
in Brooklyn. Play it on the organ,
Crosby asked. Knapp did and then
asked, What does the tune say?
She turned to see Crosby kneeling
in prayer. Knapp played a 2nd time
and then a third. Then the blind
woman responded: That says:
Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine!
O what a foretaste of glory divine!

Lord, we’ll hold on to assurance:
We can boldly enter heaven’s
Most Holy Place because of the
blood of Jesus… Let us draw near
with a true heart in full assurance
of faith… Without wavering let us
hold tightly to the hope we say
we have, for God can be trusted to
keep his promise. Think of ways to
encourage one another to outbursts
of love and good deeds… especially
now that the day of his coming back
again draws near (Heb 10:19-25).

Father, let me not take for granted
the ready access to Your presence.
Let me never relate to You as
though You stand at a distance.
Let me come to You Lord in full
assurance of faith, fully trusting You.
Holy Spirit, overflow from me and
let me see You overflowing from
others in my relationships with
others. Let Your people be known
to display You & Your works. Amen.

Father God, empower me to hold
tightly to the blessed assurance.
Inspire me to encourage believers
to stay close to You & worship You.
Use me to give others assurance
and hope in You. Give me ideas
that will spur others to love and
good deeds. And I give You all the
glory for the Blessed Assurance.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine
O what a foretaste of glory divine!
Heir of salvation, purchase of God
Born of Spirit, washed in His blood…
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long
This is my story, this is my song,
Praising my Saviour all the day long…
Perfect submission, all is at rest,
I in my Saviour am happy and blest
Watching and waiting, looking above
Filled w His goodness, lost in His love
