Be Merciful, Be Light, Be Perfect
Jesus claimed to be the Messiah,
the King of the Jews. And you
will read in Matt 5-7 the Sermon
of the Mount, where He presents
His statement of heaven (Mt 5:3,10)
Relationship to God (not simply
adherence to ritual) and inward
attitude (not merely outward action)
become focus of Christ’s message
for a lifestyle of righteousness.
Dear Almighty God, You sent
Jesus to save us from our sins;
give us eternal & abundant life;
and to be our Master and King.
Your standards are lofty; but in
deep gratitude of what You had
done, we your people purpose
to Live a Kingdom Lifestyle by:
Adopting Kingdom Perspectives,
Be Salt of earth, Light of world
and Aspire to Be Perfect. Amen.
Lord, we Adopt Kingdom Values:
God blesses those who are poor
and realise their need for him, for
the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs…
God blesses those who are
merciful for they be shown mercy…
God blesses those who work
for peace for they will be called
the children of God (Matt 5:3-9).
Lord, help us to see life’s trials
& difficulties from yr perspective.
Help us to be merciful as You are;
teach us to be willing to overlook
wrongs and to bless even those
who don’t deserve blessing. And
do enable us for Your standards
require God’s power, faith in
Christ and change brought
about by the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Lord, we purpose Be Salt & Light:
You are the Salt of the earth.
But if the salt loses its saltiness,
It is no longer good for anything,
except to be thrown out…
You are the Light of the world.
A city on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp
and put it under a bowl. Instead
they put it on its stand & it gives
light to everyone in the house.
In the same way, let your light
shine before men, that they may
see your good deeds and praise
your Father in heaven (Mt 5:13-16)
Lord, lead us to what You’re doing
& use us bear fruit in Your world.
Help us live in way as preservers
of biblical values and letting
our light shine for Jesus. Amen.
Lord, we will aspire to Be Perfect:
(Jesus said): You have heard that
the law of Moses says: “Love
your neighbour” & hate yr enemy.
But I say: Love your enemies!
Pray for those who persecute you!
In that way, You will be acting
as true children of your Father
in heaven… Therefore, you shall
be perfect, just as your Father in
heaven is perfect (Mt 5:43-45,48)
Lord Jesus, thank you for dying
on the cross for us so that I
can be reconciled to the Father.
Lord, please fill my heart with
understanding for my enemies or
people who are negative of me.
Help me to pray for these people
and not badmouth or curse them.
I can do this only as I look to You
as my example. And Lord, grant
me grace to be perfect for apart
from You, I can do nothing. Amen
