God Is Your Source
Backgrounder: David ends his
life the same way he began it,
praising God. His final words to
Solomon and to the nation reflect
the same wholehearted devotion
to God as the young shepherd.
Lord, You are our Source:
Yours O Lord is the greatness,
the power, the glory & the majesty.
Yours is the kingdom O Lord
And you are exalted over all.
Wealth and honour come from U;
You are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and
power to exalt and give strength
to all (1 Chron 29:11-12).
Lord, we saw at the end of David’s
reign, he commissioned a national
offering for the soon-to-be-built
Temple. The people’s response
was overwhelming. Looking at
the lavish gifts of silver, gold and
precious gems, David stood before
the people and praised God.
Lord, there are occasions in life
when all our labours pay off.
The business deal or special
event comes together perfectly.
A boss notices our hard work and
we get a promotion or a raise.
These are wonderful moments.
To what or whom will we attribute
our success? May we learnt
from King David to praise You!
Lord, You are in control of all things.
Help me remember that You rule
over everything: the universe
and my life. You possess all power
and might; and You give strength
and makes all things great.
You are the source of all good
things – wealth, power & honour.
What do I have that I did not
receive from you? Amen.
Lord, as 2017 comes to a close,
and although there may be
things that may not be great,
let’s also remember that You
God has also been good to us!
Let’s remember the truth in
James 1:17 that every good
and perfect gift is from above.
And surely You alone deserve
all our praise and thanksgiving.
He is Exalted for Great is the Lord.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
