Seeking God In Psalm 24 (Jun 21)

Prayer for Divine Glory

The Lord can be seen in
different roles in Psalm 19-24.
He is the Creator (Psalm 19),
the Helper (Ps 20), the King (Ps 21),
Crucified One (Ps 22), the Shepherd
(Ps 23) & the Glorious One (Ps 24).
For each role, there is a related
responsibility for the people who
would follow Him as their God
and King, Shepherd and Sovereign.

Praise the Lord Mighty In Battle:
The earth is the Lord’s and everything
in it. The world and all its people
belong to Him. For He laid the
earth’s foundation (Psalm 24:1-2).
Who may ascend into the hill of
the Lord?… He who has clean
hands and a pure heart, who has
not lifted up his soul to an idol…
He shall receive blessing from
the Lord, and righteousness from
the God of his salvation (v3-6).
Lift up your heads… and the
King of glory shall come in.
Who is the King of glory?
The Lord strong and mighty,
The Lord mighty in battle (v7-8).

Lord, You have warned that hearing
Your word and not obeying is like
building a house without foundation
which will collapse into a heap of ruins.
We confess sometimes mouthing
Christ is Lord and stubbornly going
our own way choosing idol over You.
Gracious Lord who reigns eternal,
make me according to Your heart
and cause me to submit & obey. Amen

O holy & gracious Lord, I trust in You
and desire to be in Your presence.
May the Holy Spirit work in my heart
so that my thoughts, words and
actions will be pure before You.
Thank You Lord for being mighty;
for being faithful to your people.
Grateful we need not fear anyone
or anything with the Great One
with us. In Jesus mighty name.

Lord, visit me in my distress and
overcome those who oppose me.
When people plan to spread
untruths about me, close their lips.
Let me walk thru each day in peace,
knowing that if I will be still before
U Lord, You will fight on my behalf.
And in quietness and trust I will
find my escape from all that
troubles me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
