Seeking God In Psalm 121 (July 23)

God Protects His People

Thank God for Help & Protection
Psalms 120-127 deal with topics
dear to the heart of travellers
far from home: peace (120, 122);
Protection (121, 125, 127); and
provision (123, 124, 126). As you
read these “hymns of the highway”
imagine yourself on a journey of life
with your destination now in view.

Lord, You Help and Protect us:
I will lift up my eyes to the hills-
from whence comes my help?
My Help Comes from the Lord,
who made the heavens and the
earth! He will not let you stumble
and fall; the one who Watches
over U will not slumber (Ps 121:1-3)
The Lord himself Watches over you!
The Lord stands besides you as
your protective shade…The Lord
Keeps you from Evil & preserves
your life. The Lord keeps watch
over you as u come & go (v5-8).

Lord, our Help comes from You,
who made the heavens & earth!
Because You hold me, I will not
stumble and fall. Because You
watch over me, I will not fear
for my security is in You my God.
Thank you for watching over me
and for caring about my situation.
Thank You I am not alone for You
are with me and helping me. Amen

Lord, I pray for protective covering.
And thank You for watching over
and protecting my loved ones!
What peace it gives me to know
that You never slumber or sleep.
And that I can confidently entrust
those I love to Your care & keeping.
Bless and keep my family coming
and going both now & always.Amen

Lord, Your assurance to Your
followers is that You Will Keep
them from all Evil. Thank you
Lord that though evil may come,
it has no real power over me.
I believe that U will, as promised
preserve my life. I want to live
with confidence that I am safe
in You. Keep me busy Trusting,
not worrying over things. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 119 (July 22)

God’s Word Directs Our Path

Psalm 119 is the longest psalm
and the longest chapter of the
longest book in the Bible. And
it provides the multifaceted Word
of God. Just as the psalm seems
to go on endlessly as you read its
176 verses, so let your praise and
love for God’s Word be endless
as you make it the focus of your
devotional time today & every day.

Lord, Your Word Directs Our Path:
With my whole heart I have sought
You; Your Word I have hidden
in my heart that I might Not Sin
against You. (Psalm 119:10-11).
Your Word is a lamp for my feet
and a Light for my Path. I have…
confirmed that I will keep Your
righteous (laws). I am afflicted
very muvh; Revive me O Lord
according to Your word (v105-7).
You are my refuge and my shield;
Your Word is my only Source of hope.
Lord, sustain me as You promised,
that I may live! Do not let my hope
be crushed (v114-116) Amen.

Lord, even as I Hide Your Word in
my heart, help me Keep From Sin.
Grant me the wisdom to seek You
and to hide Your Word in my heart.
Grant me discernment to apply
Your truth to everyday situations.
Grant me the perseverance and
faith to trust Your Word when l am
going through difficult times. Amen.

Lord, I want to delight in Your Word,
to obey it and to commit myself
to walking in the Light it provides.
I praise You that Your Word Lights
the Path at my feet so that I don’t
have to wander in the darkness.
Guide me each day with Your
wonderful Word so that I will not
copy the customs of this world;
but instead be transformed into
a new person in Christ. Amen.

Lord, how grateful I am that You
are my Refuge and my Shield.
Although my perspective is often
focused on the circumstances
around me, You already know the
outcome of Your plans for my life.
In the midst of difficulties, Your
Word is my only Source of Hope.
Help me Lord to Trust in You and
gain an eternal perspective. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 118 (July 21)

The LORD For His People

Backgrounder on Psalms 111-118:
Praise permeates nearly every
line of these eight psalms. God is
praiseworthy for His care (Ps 111),
His commandments (Ps 112),
His name(Ps 113), His power(Ps 114),
His uniqueness (Ps 115),
His Deliverance (Ps 116), His truth
(Ps 117) and His mercy (Ps 118).
What other response could
there be than to Praise the Lord.

Lord Almighty, You are For Me:
Give thanks to the Lord for He is
good & His Mercy endures forever…
Let those who fear the Lord now say:
His mercy endures forever (Ps 118:1,4).
In my distress I prayed to the
Lord and the Lord answered me
and rescued me. The Lord is
On My Side, I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?
Yes, the Lord is For me;
He will help me (Ps 118:5-7).
The stone which the builders rejected
has become the chief cornerstone.
This was the Lord’s doing…
This is the day the Lord has made.
We’ll Rejoice & be glad in it (v22-24)

Lord, this is the day You have
made, a place of new beginning.
No matter what may happen,
help me to rejoice and be glad
in the day that You have made.
Help me to see Your goodness
and lift up my head and rejoice.
And help me to see my problem
as one more great opportunity
to depend on You Lord. Amen.

Father God, as Your child, Nothing
can separate me from Your love.
Thank You Lord for answering
and helping me in my distress.
Thank You Lord for the truth
that You are For me, for it is
assuring of Your concern for me.
Help me to resolve not to be afraid
because the Almighty Lord of the
universe is On My Side. Amen.

Lord, thank You for being For me
and You bring me through trouble.
You are my ally and my hero with
strong arm giving me confidence.
You are my Father and nothing
can separate me from Your love.
You are my impregnable fortress,
my unconquerable tower of safety.
You are my shield to protect me
from harm; and as I take refuge in
You, I don’t have to be afraid. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 116 (July 20)

God Listens to Your Prayers

Backgrounder on Psalms 111-118:
Praise permeates nearly every
line of these eight psalms. God is
praiseworthy for His care (Ps 111),
His commandments (Ps 112),
His name(Ps 113), His power(Ps 114),
His uniqueness (Ps 115),
His Deliverance (Ps 116), His truth
(Ps 117) and His mercy (Ps 118).
What other response could there
be thankful to Praise the Lord.

Lord, You Hear Our Prayers:
I love the Lord, for He Heard
my voice; He Heard my cry
for mercy. Because He turned
His ear to me, I will call on Him
as long as I live (Psalm 116:1-2).
The Lord is gracious & righteous;
our God is full of Compassion…
Be at rest… O my soul, for the Lord
has been good to you (v5-7).
And so I walk in the Lord’s
presence as I live here on earth!
I believe in You, so I prayed, (for)
I am deeply troubled Lord (v9-10).

Lord, I take great comfort in
knowing You Hear my prayers.
Your Word tells me You Listen
and Hear when I call upon You.
Help me to be patient to wait for
Your answers, to not lose heart and
to not fear that You have never heard.
Help me Lord to trust You enough to
pray for all that concerns me. Amen.

Father, You take care of us for You
are Compassionate & full of mercy.
You are good to Your children,
taking care of their every need.
Thank You gracious Lord for
not treating me as I deserve; and
for being so gentle and loving.
Enable me in tough time to fix
my mind on Your proven track
record of kindness. Amen.

Lord, when I am troubled,
help me to run to You the way
little children run to their fathers
when they don’t know what to do.
Increase my belief in Your fatherly
heart and Your tenderness to me.
And Increase my faith in the power
of prayer to You when I’m troubled.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Seeking God In Psa 108/109 (July 19)

God Faithful & Merciful to His People

There is plenty to sing about in
Ps 107-110. First comes the song
of the Redeemed (Ps 107), then
a song dedicated to the God of
might & glory (Ps 108) and a song
of lament over the slanderous
attacks of an enemy (Ps 109).
But how can you sing when the
godless are seemingly getting
away with murder? Remember
with the psalmist David that
the Lord is king (Psalm 110).

Lord, You are Faithful & Merciful:
I will Praise You, O Lord, among
the Peoples & I will sing praises
to You among the nations.
For Your mercy is great above
the heavens, and Your Faithfulness
reaches to the clouds. Be exalted
O God above the heavens, and Your
glory above all the earth (Ps 108:3-5)
O God the Lord deal with me
for Your name’s sake; because
Your mercy is good, deliver me.
For I am poor & needy (P109:21-22)
Help me O Lord my God. O save
me according to Your mercy,
that they may know that this
is Your hand- that You, Lord,
have done it (Ps 109:26-27).

Lord, as Your unfailing love is
higher than the mountains and
Your faithfulness reaches to the
clouds, surely you promise to be
Faithful to Your people. I surrender
my fears & trust in You to see me
through. Grant me grace to praise
and thank You each day and to see
Your glory no matter what! Amen.

Lord, thank You for always calling
me to draw near to You. That is
my desire, so I ask You to work
within me the power & the energy
to rise each morning to meet You.
My heart is confident in You Lord,
in Your mercy and Your faithfulness.
No wonder I love to sing Your praises!
Be exalted O God above the heavens
& Yr glory be over all the earth. Amen

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You
for Your grace and lovingkindness.
We extol You Lord for You are
our strength and also because
You have become our salvation.
You are the one who shows favours,
opens doors and gives opportunities.
For we can do nothing from You,
so You are fully worthy of our
heartfelt praise. In Jesus’ name.

Seeking God In Psalm 107 (July 18)

God Helps His People

There is plenty to sing about in
Ps 107-110. First comes the song
of the Redeemed (Ps 107), then
a song dedicated to the God of
might & glory (Ps 108) and a song
of lament over the slanderous
attacks of an enemy (Ps 109).
But how can you sing when the
godless are seemingly getting
away with murder? Remember
with the psalmist David that
the Lord is king (Psalm 110).

Lord, You Help Your People:
O give thanks to the Lord,
for He is good! For His mercy
endures forever. Let the redeemed
of the Lord say so (Ps 107:1-2).
Some wandered in the desert,
lost & homeless. Hungry & thirsty,
they nearly died. Lord, Help!
they Cried in their trouble and He
Rescued them from their distress…
Let them Praise the Lord for his
great love & for all his wonderful
deeds to them. For He satisfies
the longing soul, & fills the hungry
soul with goodness (Ps 107:4-9).
Fools because of their transgression
were afflicted… Then they cried
out to the Lord in their trouble, and
He saved them out of their distresses.
And delivered them from destructions.
Oh that men would give thanks to
the Lord for His goodness (v17-21).
Whoever is wise will Observe these
things and they will understand
the faithful love of the Lord (v43).

Lord, I will recall all the ways
that You have been faithful and
gracious to me. Remind me when
I forget Your wonderful deeds.
Call Your work to my attention
and then anchor it in my memory.
I will recall & Cry unto You for help.
Help me Lord trust that You will
come to my rescue; and I will
Praise Your great love. Amen

Lord, You take care of Your people
and Your workers in amazing ways.
You promise to meet our needs
in the world. And the truth is that
You simply do. It might not be
in the way that we wish, but it
will be done. Help us to Trust
in You and not let the evil one
influence & tell us otherwise. Amen

Lord, help us to Be Wise and
take all this to heart so that we
will Observe in the history of your
people and in our own history
“the faithful love of the Lord”.
Help us lift up our eyes and See
the incredible things You do in
response to our wholehearted
Cries for help. At our wit’s end,
Lord, You glorify yourselves. Amen

Thought for the Week: Psalm 86

Needing & Walking With the LORD

Backgrounder on Psalms 84-89:
These psalms are petitions to God:
satisfy us again (Ps 84), revive us
again (P85), hear us again (P86);
gather us again (Psslm 87),
encourage us again (Psalm 88)
and make us sing again (Ps 89).
Each psalm ends with a benediction
of confidence that God will do that
in response to the prayers of His pple.

Lord, we Need You & Walk With You:
Bend down O Lord & hear my prayer.
Answer me, for I NEED Your help.
Protect me, for I am devoted to You.
Save me, for I serve You & trust You.
You are my God. Be merciful to me,
O Lord for I’m calling on U constantly.
Give me happiness, O Lord, for my
life depends on You. O Lord, You
are so good, so ready to forgive,
so full of unfailing love for all who
Can ask for Your aid. Listen closely
to my prayer… hear my urgent cry.
I will call to You whenever trouble
strikes & You’ll answer me (Ps 86:1-7)
Teach Me Your Way, O Lord;
I will WALK In Your Truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name.
I will praise You, O Lord my God,
with all my heart, and I will glorify
Your name forevermore (v11-13).

O Yahweh, holy & sovereign God,
I humbly come before You again
and not claiming any innocence
having fallen from time to time.
Be merciful to me Lord for You
are so good and ready to forgive.
I also ask You to hear my urgent
cry because of Your unfailing love.
I come as a servant calling on my
Master to address my need. Amen.

Lord, I humbly come before You
thanking You for Your peace & joy,
for my soul is in need of Your grace.
I need Your strength to overcome
temptations and face challenges.
I need You to save and deliver me
for I serve You and trust in You.
I need Your blessings so that I can
be source of blessings to others.
I need Thee Lord in every way,
so bless me now my Saviour,
even as I come to Thee! Amen.

Lord, teach us Your way and we
will Walk With You & in Your truth.
Teach us what it really means
to walk by faith and not by sight;
and to stay constantly close to You.
And we praise our loving Heavenly
Father who longs to Be with us:
to Keep us from all wrong,
to Bless & keep us satisfied,
to Share our cares and burdens,
to Guide us to kingdom shore. Amen

Let us humble ourselves and pray
and seek His face… In Jesus’ name.

Seeking God In Psalm 103 (July 16)

The Lord who Gives Benefits

In Psalm 103, the psalmist urges
you to count your blessings.
And Psalm 98-102 provide plenty
of ideas to help you do just that
by focusing on the many things
for which you should be thankful:
your salvation (Psalm 98),
answered prayer (Psalm 99),
God’s goodness and mercy (Ps 100),
God’s justice & holiness (Ps 101) and
God’s care the downcast (Ps 102).

Lord, You Bless Your People:
Bless the Lord, O my soul, and
Forget Not All His Benefits –
who forgives all your sins,
who heals all your diseases,
who redeems your life fr destruction,
who crowns you with lovingkindness,
who satisfies your desires with
Good things (Psalm 103:2-5).
The Lord is Merciful and Gracious,
slow to anger & abounding in mercy.
He will not always strive with us, nor
will He keep His anger forever(v8-9).
The Lord is like a father to his
children, tender & Compassionate
to those who fear Him. For He
knows how weak we are (v13-14).

Lord, You are worthy of praise,
for You do countless Good things
for Your children. Forgive us Lord
for the times we fail to acknowledge
Your many blessings in our lives.
Forgiveness, healing, rescue,
love and mercy, You indeed fill our
lives with undeserved blessings.
Teach us Lord the wonderful habit
of counting our blessings. Amen.

Lord, You are Merciful & Gracious,
full of unfailing love; and we ask You
to reveal these in our lives each day.
Grateful for revealing Your wondrous
attributes to us in Your Word.
Open our eyes to who You really are
so that our prayers will rest on the
solid foundation of Your character.
And may our prayers have dunamis
power because they are based on
the truth about You Lord. Amen.

Lord, in Your mercy, do not leave
us exposed to lack or danger.
Remember we are weak and
we can get easily discouraged.
Please do not test us too long,
beyond what we are able to bear.
Instead encourage us with ready
manifestation of Your presence.
Strengthen us Lord in the spirit
when we are deeply discouraged.
Help us see Your Compassion and
loving kindness toward us. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 91 (July 15)

Coming Under Shadow of Almighty

Though the author of most of
Psalms 90-97 are unknown,
the Object of their worship is well
known: the God of eternity (Ps 90),
the God of protection (Ps 91),
the God of greatness (Ps 92),
the God of majesty (Ps 93),
the God of vengeance (Ps 94),
the God of salvation (Ps 95),
the God of glory (Ps 96) and
the God of holiness (Ps 97).

Lord, we Seek Your Presence:
He who dwells in the secret place
of the Most High shall abide
under the Shadow of the Almighty.
He shall cover you with His
feathers and under His wings
you shall take refuge. His truth
shall be your Shield…(Ps 91:1-4).
Because you have made the
Lord who is my refuge, even the
Most High, your dwelling place,
No evil shall befall you, nor shall
any plague come near your dwelling;
For He shall give His angels
charge over you (Psalm 91:8-11).
Because he has set his love upon
Me, therefore I will deliver him…
He shall call upon Me;
and I will answer him (v14-15).

Lord, Thank You that in the midst of
life’s storms, I have Your Protection
when I come and dwell with You.
In facing stormy situation, You are
greater than any worry I may have.
As a mother bird shelters her
young, You will cover me with
Your wings and Shelter me.
Keep me safe and be a Shield
and Shelter for me, for my life
is in Your very hands. Amen.

Lord, Thank You that in Your
mysterious and powerful ways,
You Send Your Angels around
us to protect Your people
in their journeys through life.
And so I will look to You as my
refuge and shelter so that I will
live in freedom in the Spirit and
not fear, no matter what I face.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Lord, all Your promises are true
and Your children are held safe
in the palm of Your very hand.
Grateful that Your strong shadow,
reliable refuge, safety shield and
ministering angels watch over us
and Protect us wherever we go
even as we abide and trust in You.
Because we set our love on You,
we can count Your deliverance.
In the mighty name of Jesus, Amen
