Seeking God In Psalm 34 (Jun 30)

Seek the Lord for He Delivers You

Psalms 31-36 show how Proper
Perspective can help you face
any circumstance. It can bring
you from gloom to glory (Ps 31),
from failure to deliverance (Ps 32),
fr false security to secured trust(33)
from Affliction to Adoration (Ps 34),
from persecution to praise (Ps 35),
and from darkness to light (Ps 36).

Lord, You Deliver When We Seek:
I Sought the Lord & He heard me
& Delivered me from all my fears.
They looked to Him and were
Radiant, and their faces were not
ashamed…The angels of the Lord
encamps all around those who
fear Him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord
is good, Blessed is the man
who Trusts in Him… Fear the Lord…
Those who Seek the Lord shall not
lack any good thing (Psalm 34:4-10)
The eyes of the Lord are on the
righteous and His ears are open to
their cry… The righteous cry out,
and the Lord Hears and Delivers
them out of their troubles (v15-17).

Lord, we give You all our anxieties
over finances, work, health or
relationships & look to You for help.
Do a deep work in my heart on
those things that strike fear in me.
I lay these burdens and worries
before You Lord and ask You
to exchange my fear for faith.
Thank You Lord for Your promise
to answer me when I call on You,
to free me from fear & shame and
to make me radiant with joy. Amen.

Lord, help us to look to You and
to fully Trust In You each day.
There is great joy to be found
in living with Eyes Fixed on You.
Help me to do that so that my
life will be radiant with Your joy.
May others be drawn to You Lord
because of the joy You have put
in my heart. O Jesus, more of
the joys of Trusting In You. Amen.

Lord, it’s such a comfort to know
that Your eyes watch over me and
that Your ears hear my cries for help.
Thanks Lord for hearing my cries and
rescuing when I am crushed in spirit.
You are close to the broken-hearted
and to those who are in dire straits.
Praise You for the hope and courage
Your promises give me when I am
facing difficult circumstances. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 33 (Jun 29)

This is My Father’s World

Maltbie Babcock (1858-1901)
was an athlete. When he was
pastor of the First Presbyterian
Church in Lockport New York,
he would run out in the morning
to the brow of the hill two miles
away & look over at Lake Ontario.
Before he left, he would tell his
church staff: I am going out to
see my Father’s world. Babcock
loved athletics & nature as well as
music. So it was not strange that
he should write a hymn extolling
God’s handiwork in nature. The hymn was inspired also by Psalm 33.

Lord, we Stand In Awe of You:
The word of the Lord Holds True
& we can Trust everything he does..
The earth is full of the goodness
of the Lord (Psalm 33:4-5).
The Lord merely spoke, and
the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
He assigned the sea its boundaries…
Let the whole world fear the Lord.
And let everyone stand in awe
of him. For He spoke and
it was done; He commanded
and it stood fast (Psa 33:6-9).
The Lord’s plans stand firm forever;
His intentions can never be shaken.
(Psalm 33:11). Amen and amen.

Lord, Your Word must be handled
differently from other information.
Though we can’t be fully confident
of our interpretations, we can
wholly trust the source of the word.
Help me Lord to live as someone
who is anchored in Your reality,
never moving from Your truth
or questioning Your promises.
Thank You for the assurance that
You’ll lead me & promise me with
rock-solid & absolute truth. Amen.

Lord, thank You that we are not
helpless victim of circumstances.
But we can affect the outcomes
of our situations thro prayer and
following Your gracious leading.
Scripture says You merely speak
and the universe is created. So,
speak words of power into our life;
speak words of fulfilment so that
we truly live the abundant life. Amen

Lord, believing You created the
world also leads us to the truth of
Your providence in ruling the world.
The truth that God spoke and it
was done means You are in control
of the circumstances of our lives.
Lord I take comfort that You are
working everything together for
good according to Your purpose.
And Lord let me ne’er forget
that this is my Father’s world,
that Your plans stand firm, and
that You’re the Ruler yet. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 32 (Jun 28)

Prayer for Forgiveness & Deliverance

Psalms 31-36 show how a proper
perspective can help you face
any circumstance; and can bring
you from gloom to glory (Ps 31);
from failure to deliverance (Ps 32);
fr false security to secured trust(P33);
from affliction to adoration (Ps 34);
from persecution to praise (Ps 35);
and from darkness to light (Ps 36).

Lord, You Are My Hiding Place:
When I kept silent,
my bones grew old through
my groaning all the day long…
I acknowledged my sin to You…
And You forgave… my sin.
For this cause everyone
who is godly shall pray to You…
You are My Hiding Place;
You protect me from trouble
and surround me with songs
of Deliverance (Psalm 32:3-7).
The Lord says: I Will Guide you
along the best pathway for your life.
I will Watch over you… (And)
he Who Trusts in the Lord,
mercy shall surround him (v8-10).

Lord, Thank You for giving us
security in midst of insecurity,
peace in the storm of life, and
a Hiding Place in Your safe arm.
Thank You for Your promise
that Your unfailing love will
surround those who Trust You.
And they who dwell in the shelter
of the Most High will rest in the
shadow of the Almighty. Amen.

Lord, You promise that You will
Guide Your people along the
best pathways for their lives.
Thank You for Your assurance
of direction and protection.
So, Guide me Lord day by day;
and give me the strength to step
out with courage and faith
as I sense Your leading. Amen.

Lord, Thank for Your assurance
of direction and protection,
that Your unfailing love will
surround those who trust You.
Lord, You are My Hiding Place
You always fill my heart
With songs of deliverance.
Whenever I am afraid
I will trust in You; I will trust in You…
Let the weak say I am strong
In the strength of the Lord
I will trust in You. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 31 (Jun 27)

God of Truth Leadeth Me

At the start of the American Civil
War, Joseph Gilmore, pastor of
Philadelphia First Baptist Church
wanted to turn people’s attention
to the Security of God’s guidance.
The important thing he said is
to know that God is leading – no
matter how or where He leads us.
After service, Gilmore went to
a deacon’s home and the topic
revolved around the Blessedness
of God’s leading. As others went
on talking, he wrote the words of
the hymn (He Leadeth Me) which
is inspired also by Psalm 31.

Lord, we will Follow Your Leading:
In You, O Lord I put my trust;
Let me never be ashamed;
Deliver me in Your righteousness…
Deliver me speedily; Be my rock
of refuge, a fortress of defense
to save me… For You are my rock
and my fortress; Therefore,
for Your name’s sake,
Lead me and guide me…
Into Your hand I commit my spirit;
You have ransomed & redeemed
me, O Lord, God of Truth
Jehovah El Emeth (Psa 31:1-5).
But as for me I trust in You O Lord;
I say: You are my God.
My (future) is in Your hands.
Deliver me (v14-15).

Lord Jehovah El Emeth, our desire
is to live according to Your truth.
And yet we struggle at times during
adversity or trials when walking
in faith and truth seems so hard.
Help me trust You and always put
Your perspective above my own.
Give me discernment of situation
and wisdom to walk in Your ways.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, we put our Trust in You for
there’s Blessedness in Your leading.
So, I trust You with all my heart and
lean not on my own understanding.
In all my ways I will acknowledge
You and You will surely make my
paths straight. For You God knows
the plans You have for me, plans
to prosper me and not to harm me,
to give me a future & a hope. Amen.

Lord leadeth me! O blessed thot!
O words of heav’nly comfort fraught!
Whate’er I do, where’re I be,
Still ’tis God’s hand that leadeth me!
He leadeth me, He leadeth me,
By His own hand He leadeth me:
His faithful follower I would be,
For by His hand He leadeth me!
Lord, I would clasp Thy hand in mine
Nor ever murmur nor repine,
Content, whatever lot I see, Since
’tis thy hand that leadeth me! Amen.

Thought for the Week: Psalm 23

The Lord’s My Shepherd

Backgrounder on Psalms 19-24:
The Lord can be seen in many
different roles in these six psalms.
He is the Creator (Psalm 19),
Helper (Ps 20), King (Ps 21),
Crucified One (Ps 22), Shepherd
(Ps 23) and Glorious One (Ps 24).
For each divine role, there is a
corresponding responsibility for
the people who would follow Him
as their God, King and Shepherd.

Lord, You Provide, Guide & Protect:
The Lord is My Shepherd, I Lack
Nothing & have everything I need.
He lets me rest in green meadows;
He Leads me besides peaceful
streams. He Guides me along right
paths, bringing honour to His name.
Even when I walk through the
darkest valley, I will not be afraid
for You are close beside me.
Your rod and Your staff Protect and
comfort me (Psalm 23:1-4). Amen.

Lord, the Shepherd of my soul,
praise & thank You for Your Care.
You are not just my Creator and
my God; You are not just the King
and the Judge of the universe. For
You are my Shepherd & I’m blessed
for because of You, I Lack Nothing.
Keep me from complaining; and
Keep me from fear and worry; for
You’ll Provide all my needs. Amen.

Lord Shepherd, it is comforting
to know that I am not alone in
the journey of life. Thank You
that You are ever so vigilant,
Guiding and watching over me.
And thank You that You love to
lead me to “Peaceful streams”.
So, help me to always respond to
Your sweet small voice and stay
close to You. And I gladly Follow
You as You call my name. Amen.

Lord Shepherd, You faithfully
feed, guide and above all Protect
Your flock with Your very life.
Lord, You are always close by,
You protect & comfort us, and
You protectively watch over us.
Merciful Lord and dear Shepherd,
in my darkest moments when I’m
very afraid and I cry out to You,
please extend Your hand to hold
my hand. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 30 (Jun 25)

Wait Upon the LORD for Help

Backgrounder: The first book
(Psalm 1-41) is similar to Genesis.
Just as Genesis tells how man was
created, fell into sin and promised
redemption, many of the psalms
in book 1 (P1-41) discuss man as
blessed, fallen & redeemed by God.
And as David penned Psa 25-30,
he thought of the multi-faceted
character of the God he served.
The Lord is good & upright (25:8)
my light (27:1), my strength(28:7)
King forever (29:10) & God (30:2).

Lord, we cry out to You for Help:
O Lord my God, I cried out to You
for help, and You restored my health.
You brought me up from the grave
O Lord. You kept me from falling
into the pit of death (Psalm 30:1-2).
Sing the praises of the Lord,
you His faithful people; praise
His holy name. For His anger
lasts only a moment but His favour
lasts a lifetime; weeping may
stay for the night, but rejoicing
comes in the morning (v4-5).
Hear O Lord, and be merciful to me;
O Lord, be my helper.
You turn my mourning into dancing;
You remove my sackcloth
and clothe me with gladness,
that my heart may sing praise
to You and not be silent.
O Lord my God, I will give thanks
to You forever (v10-12). Amen.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for
looking for help in all the wrong places.
Thank You for Your constant love
and Your desire to be my help.
And thank You for extending
Your help to me whenever I need.
Only Your love will not fail.
Only You can satisfy.
Only You can give hope that
does not disappoint us. Amen.

Sovereign Lord, You are holy
and completely worthy of praise.
I want to worship You at all times,
when life is good and when it is
difficult. For I know that hard and
trying times are just temporary;
and Your favour is surely with me.
Though I may weep and mourn now,
I want to believe that You’re in control;
and that I will soon be rejoicing. Amen

Lord, whatsoever these days
may bring, let Your name be praised.
Be gracious to me Lord and help me.
Grant me the needed strength
to bear whatsoever You Lord may
send, and let not fear overrule me.
For I trust Your grace and commit
my life wholly into Your hands.
Lord, I wait for Your help & salvation;
and in Your loving kindness turn
my mourning into dancing. Amen.

Seeking God In Psa 28/29 (Jun 24)

Honour God who Listens & Speaks

Backgrounder on Psalms 25-30:
As David penned these six psalms,
he thought of the multifaceted
character of God he served.
The Lord is Good & Upright (Ps25:8),
My Light (Psalm 27:1),
My Strength (Psalm 28:7),
King Forever (Psalm 29:10)
and My God (Psalm 30:2, 12).

Lord, we Worship & Honour You:
Praise the Lord! For He has heard
my cry for mercy. The Lord is
my strength, my shield from
every danger. I trust in Him with
all my heart. He helps me and my
heart is filled with joy. I burst out in
songs of thanksgiving (Ps 28:6-7).
Give honor to the Lord you angels;
give honor to the Lord for His glory
and strength. Give honor to the
Lord for the glory of His name.
Worship the Lord in the splendour
of His holiness (Psalm 29:1-2).
The voice of the Lord is over the
waters; the God of glory thunders…
The voice of the Lord is powerful;
the voice of the Lord is full
of majesty (Psalm 29:3-4).

Father, thank You for hearing
my cry for mercy and my prayers.
Even when my situation remains
the same, grant me grace to trust
You and to thank You for Your
listening ear and Your gracious help.
Because of Your mercy, I will sing
songs of thanksgiving to You.
Because of Your help, may my
heart be filled with joy. Amen.

Lord, forgive me for sometimes
getting wrapped up in myself and
my tasks and forgetting to give
You credit for all You have done
in my life and the world around me.
Create in me a heart of worship.
I give honour to You and worship
You for the glory of Your name,
for Your amazing strength & might,
for the splendour of Your holiness.
In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.

Lord, I am thankful that You
aren’t silent, that Your voice
thunders over the whole earth.
But it’s easy to become distracted
and fail to listen for Your leading.
Remove anything that is clogging
my spiritual ears so that I might
hear Your powerful voice. And make
me willing and quick to obey. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 27 (Jun 23)

Prayer of a Believing Heart

Backgrounder on Psalms 25-30:
As David penned these six psalms,
he thought of the multifaceted
character of God he served.
The Lord is Good & Upright (Ps25:8),
My Light )Psalm 27:1),
My Strength (Psalm 28:7),
King Forever (Psalm 29:10)
and My God (Psalm 30:2, 12).

Lord, we Come to You & Wait on You:
The Lord is my light & my salvation
so why should I be afraid? The
Lord protects me from danger, so
why should I tremble? (Psalm 27:1).
Hear O Lord when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy upon me & answer me.
When You said: Seek My face,
My heart said to You:
Your face Lord I will seek (v7-8).
I would have lost heart, unless
I had believed that I would see
the goodness of the Lord… Wait
on the Lord; Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart.
Wait I say on the Lord (v13-14).

Almighty God, help me to see
the truth in Your Word. You are my
Light and my Salvation; and surely
You will protect me from all danger.
Indeed the Lord is the strength of
my life, of whom shall I be afraid?
Help me draw close to You Lord and
to rest in the confidence I’ve in You.
Help me to banish fear in my life
even as I put my trust in You. Amen

Lord, give me such a desire for
You that I will run to You right
away when You say “COME”.
Help me to be willing to lay aside
my “to-do” lists and quickly come
to Your presence and talk with You.
Tune my ears to Your voice Lord
and make my heart sensitive
to Your nudgings to You. Amen.

Lord, I listen with an attitude Your
goodness will show up in my life.
For Your goodness is not a theory
but it’s real. I am grateful for that
and fully expect to see more of it.
But Lord, holding on to faith in
situations that dictate against it
requires fortitude and boldness.
So give me patience and courage
to hear You amidst struggles and
pauses in our dialogues. Amen.

Seeking God In Psalm 25 (Jun 22)

Trust Good & Upright God

Backgrounder on Psalms 25-30:
As David penned these six psalms,
he thought of the multifaceted
character of God he served.
The Lord is Good & Upright (Ps25:8)
 My Light (Psalm 27:1),
My Strength (Psalm 28:7),
King Forever (Psalm 29:10)
and My God (Psalm 30:2, 12).

Lord, You are Good & Upright:
In You Lord my God, I put my trust.
I trust in You, do not let me
be put to shame, nor let my
enemies triumph over me.
No one who hopes in You will
ever be put to shame (Ps 25:1-3).
Show me Your ways, O Lord;
Teach me Your paths. Guide
me in Your truth and teach me,
for You are God my Savior, and
my hope is in You all day long (v4-5)
Dont remember.. my transgressions;
according to Your mercy remember
me, for Your goodness sake. Good
and upright is the Lord; therefore He
instructs sinners in His ways (v7-8).

Lord, we praise and thank you
that You are Good and Upright.
For You guide Your people and
spare the faithful from shame.
Lord, I lift my soul to You for
You are good and I trust you.
No one who walks with You
will ever be put to shame.
I believe that You will make all
things right in the end; for You
are a God of Faithfulness. Amen.

Lord, I would love an easy life,
free of all trouble and confusion.
But You have never promise such
an existence. In fact, the testimony
of scripture is that I may have
to go through challenging times.
Thank You for promising to direct
me in the truth. Give me wisdom
and courage so that I’m willing to
walk with You where You lead. Amen

Lord, thank You for Your goodness.
Because You are good, You came
to a sinful world to die for me.
Because You are good, You show
the proper path to those who go
astray. Because You are good,
I don’t have to strive to be “good
enough” to be acceptable to You.
But out of gratitude, I still want to
be good because of Your holiness
and what You have done for me. Amen
