Reflection on 1 John & Jude

Knowing God thru His Titles

The purpose of the letter of 1 John
is to reassure Christians in their
faith & to counter false teachings
while Jude reminds the church
of the need for constant vigilance
in order to keep strong in the faith.
This week we understand God better
thru knowing His attributes, mostly
related to His ability to meet needs.
On Monday, we learn from 1 John 1
about the Word of Life & Light.
On Tuesday, we learn from 1 John 2
about Advocate with the Father.
On Wed, we learn from 1 John 3/4
about Son of God & His Seed.
On Thursday, we learn from 1 John 5
of Spirit who Bears Witness & Helps.
On Friday, we learn from Jude that
God Keeps You From Stumbling.
Let us humble ourselves and pray
and seek His face…In Jesus’ name.

Knowing God In Jude (Oct 8)

God Keeps You From Stumbling

Alarmed by the presence of
false teaching, Jude exhorts
believers to stand firm for the truth.
He ends his short epistle with
a series of urgent commands:
Remember Christ’s words,
remain in God’s love and seek
to remove erring brothers from
the fiery danger of their ways.

Lord, You’re Able & Will Keep Us:
Build each other up in… faith,
pray in the power of the Holy Spirit…
And you must show mercy to those
whose faith is wavering (Jude 20-22)
All glory to God, who Is Able to Keep
You from stumbling, and who will
bring you into His glorious presence
innocent of sin & with great joy (v24)
All Glory to Him, who alone is God
our Saviour, thro Christ our Lord.
Yes, glory, majesty, power and
authority belong to Him, now,
and forevermore (Jude 25) Amen.

Lord Jesus thank You for giving
me the hope that saved my life.
In gratitude, I choose to serve as
Your servant for the rest of my life.
And I also purpose to build others
in their faith and in their recovery.
Mold me to be more merciful and
help me to be tender with sinners.
Grant me breakthrough so that I can  testify the message of hope esp to
those whose faith is wavering. Amen.

Father, You are powerful and loving
and can keep us from stumbles.                 You not only save us but also
never leave us nor forsake us.
You  will lead us step by step until
You bring us into Your presence.
You are Able to bring good out of
evil & keep everything that we have
committed until the day we see     LY
Ou   face-to-face. You are a God andwhosepromises  we can count on. Amen.

Abba, thank You for the great gift
of salvation through Christ Jesus.
Thank You for being compassionate
& we purpose to constantly praise U.
Glory to You God, the one who is
able to bring us into Your glorious
presence blameless & with great joy!
Help us depend on Your Power
& strength as You work within us.
All glory, majesty and authority
belong to You now & forever. Amen.

Knowing God In 1 John 5 (Oct 7)

Spirit who Bears Witness & Helps

Apostle John desires his spiritual
children enjoy close fellowship
with God & writes telling them how:
God is Light and therefore to
engage in fellowship with Him
means walking in the light of
His commandments. God is Love,
and thus His children must walk
in love. God is Life, and those
who desire fellowship with Him
must possess the spiritual life,
which begins with spiritual birth.

Lord, we’ll Overcome with Your Help:
Whatever is born of God overcomes
the world. And this is the victory
that has overcome the world – our
faith. Who is he who overcomes
the world but he who believes
that Jesus is the Son of God? And
it is the Spirit who bears witness
for the Spirit is truth (1Jn 5:4-5).
This is the Confidence we have
in approaching God; that if we
ask anything according to His will,
He hears us. And if we Know that
He hears us – whatever we ask
– we Know that we have what
we asked of Him (1Jn 5:14-15).
We know that God’s children do not
make a practice of sinning, for God’s
Son Holds them securely, and the
evil one cannot touch them (v18).

Holy Spirit, Your Word says the key
to victory is faith and faith comes
by hearing by the Word of God.
Grant me supernatural victory
O Helper so that I may testify how
divine faith has restored my dignity,
renewed my joy and guided me
into God’s gracious plan for my life.
Meanwhile, help me abide in Christ
and fill my emptiness, for I am
more than a conqueror in You,
my Higher Power in Jesus name.

Father, it gives me Confidence
to know that if I ask according
to Your will, You will hear me
and I will have what I ask for.
So I come to You Lord as Your
beloved child and ask You to help
me pray according to Your will.
And I know I will receive good things
from You because it’s Your nature
to bless and You love me. Amen.

Lord Jesus, we face difficulties as
everyone else and Christians may be
targeted because they are believers.
And it is a relief that You are Lord
over even the evil one. All who belong
to You are eternally safe; and all who
opposed You’re completely defeated.
For You Lord had purchased us with
Your blood, You take us to Yourself,
and You Will Hold us securely. Amen.

Son of God & His Seed (Oct 6)

Apostle John desires his spiritual
children enjoy close fellowship with
God and writes telling them how.
God is Light and therefore to
engage in fellowship with Him
means walking in the light of
His commandments. God is Love,
and thus His children must walk
in love. God is Life, and those
who desire fellowship with Him
must possess the spiritual life,
which begins with spiritual birth.

Lord, we’ll Respond to Your Love:
See what great love the Father
had lavished on us, that we
should be called children of
God! And that is what we are!
What we will be had not been
made known. But we know that
when Christ appears, we shall
be like him, for we shall see
Him as He is (1 John 3:1-2).
Beloved, let us love one another,
for love is of God… He who does
not love does not know God, for
God is love… God has sent His
only… Son into the world, that
we might live thru Him (1Jn4:7-9)
God is love and all who live in love
live in God, and God lives in them.
And as we live in God, our love
grows more perfect… Such love
has No Fear because perfect
love expels all fear (1Jn4:16-18).

Dear Abba Father, thank You
for loving us so much that You
call us & made us Your children.
I know that You greatly cares
for us and the various challenges
that we may face. And I humbly
come to You with all my needs.
Thank You for having Your arms
open to me, and for drawing me
near to You so that I can rest
in Your loving kindness. Amen.

Lord, I know I will be like You
when I appear before You God
and see You as You really are.
But as I come to Your Presence
here now on earth, let me Lord
see You more clearly and be
transformed to be more like You.
Help me Lord to live out my true
identity as Your child; and help me
live for You as I await that day. Amen.

Lord, thank You for first loving me.
As we live in You, our love grows
more complete. Although I don’t
understand all the trials I may go
through, I trust in Your love for me.
Help me to abide in You. Fill me
with Your perfect love that casts
out all fear so that I can live in
Confidence and rest in You and
then share Your amazing love
with those around me. Amen.

Advocate with the Father (Oct 5)

Apostle John who enjoys delightful
fellowship with God, desires that
his spiritual children enjoy the same
fellowship & writes to tell them how.
God is Light and to be in fellowship
with Him means walking in
the light of His commandments.
God is love, and thus His children
must walk in love. And God is life,
and those who desire fellowship
with Him must possess spiritual
life, which begins with spiritual
birth through faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord, we’ll Love You & One Another:
These things I write to you, so that
you may not sin. And if anyone sins,
we have an Advocate with the Father
Jesus Christ the righteous. And
He Himself is the propitiation for
our sins, and not for ours only but
also for the whole world (1Jn 2:1-2)
Those who Obey God’s word truly
show how completely they love Him.
That’s how we know we live in Him.
Those who say they live in God
should live their lives as Christ did…
(And His) commandment (is)
to Love one another (1Jn 2:5-7).
Do not love this world nor the things
it offers you, for when you love
the world, you do not have the love
of the Father in you (1 John 2:15).

Father, reveal to me any areas of
unconfessed sin; and also reveal
to me any areas of unknown sin.
Draw me through Your kindness
and grace; and Lord replace
my waywardness with the fruit
as well as gifts of Your Spirit.
Thank You Lord for providing
Jesus Christ as my Advocate
with You. In His holy name, Amen.

Lord Jesus, we confess not being
consistent in doing what You say.
Although You understand our falling
short, we don’t want to be negligent
in not trying to obey for that will
be hypocritical which You detest.
We don’t want to be a liar nor
not living in the truth. Help us Lord
to saturate ourselves in Your Words
and help us purpose in our hearts
to carry them out as our gratitude &
demonstration of love to You. Amen.

Lord Jesus, time and time again
You call us to love one another
and even to lay down our lives.
The love to which You call us
nearly always means setting aside
our interests even if momentarily.
It will mean lots of rearranging;
for rarely is it convenient or fit into
our schedules where we’ve break.
Grant us the grace to lay down our
interest for someone in need. Amen

Holy Spirit, we need wisdom and
help in this battle against the world.
Help us recognise the world seeks
to shape and satisfy cravings that
only You God can truly satisfy.
This lifelong battle with worldliness
can’t be won by personal willpower.
Help us replace love for the world
with a love that won’t disappoint.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Knowing God In 1 John 1

The Word of Life & Light (Oct 4)

Apostle John who enjoys delightful
fellowship with God, desires that
his spiritual children enjoy the same
fellowship & writes to tell them how.
God is Light and to be in fellowship
with Him means walking in
the light of His commandments.
God is love, and thus His children
must walk in love. And God is life,
and those who desire fellowship
with Him must possess spiritual
life, which begins with spiritual
birth through faith in Jesus Christ.

Lord, in this Covid crisis, our hope
is in the Word of Life our solid rock:
That which was from the beginning,
which we have heard, which
we have seen with our own eyes,
concerning the Word of Life…
This is the message which we
have heard from Hin and declare
to you, that God is light and in Him
is no darkness at all (1 Jn 1:1, 5).
If we walk in the light as He is in the
light, we have fellowship with one
another & the blood of Jesus Christ
Cleases us from all sin (1 John 1:7).
If we claim to be without sin,
we deceive ourselves and the truth
is not in us. If we Confess our sins,
He is faithful and just & will forgive
us our sins and purify us from
all unrighteousness (1 John 1:8-9).

Lord, Thank You for Your Word that
says You are the Word of life and
You are our solid rock, no matter
whatever circumstances around us.
You are always with us and we are
safe and secure under Your arms.
Lord, You are our all in all, our hope
is in You alone and we rest on You.
Support us Lord in this Covid crisis;
for we look up to You our solid rock!
In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen

Lord, You say if we claim to be
sinless we’re only fooling ourselves;
for our old nature still exists. So,
Give me an attitude of discernment
and humility, so that when I sin I will
know it & desire to be cleansed of it.
Grateful Lord for Your forgiveness
which removes sins as far as the
east is from the west and that You
remember them no more. Amen.

Lord, I Confess my sins before You;
grateful that You are faithful
to forgive them and to cleanse
me from all the effects of them.
If there is sin in my life that I am
not seeing, reveal it to me so that
I can confess it before You and
be purified of all unrighteousness.
For I want to live in the wholeness
of complete forgiveness. Amen.

Thought for the Week: 1 Peter 2

Shepherd of Your Souls

Peter writes to scattered Jewish
Christians who are undergoing
intense persecution for their faith.
God has begotten us again unto a
living hope. So don’t be surprised
when suffering comes your way;
prepare & respond to it correctly.
Purpose to do what is right and
imitate Christ in submissive spirit.
And God will richly reward you
when the trials of life are over.

Lord, we will live as Your People:
But you are a chosen generation,
a royal priesthood, a holy nation,
His own Special People, that you
may proclaim the praises of Him
who called you out of darkness
into His marvellous light (1Pet 2:9)
Live such good lives among the
pagans that…they may see your
good deeds & Glorify God (v12).
Live As Free People, but do not
use your freedom as a cover-up
for evil; live as God’s servants (v16).
(For) we having died to sins,
might live for righteousness
by whose stripes you were healed.
For you were like sheep going
astray, but have now returned
to the Shepherd and Overseer
of your souls (1 Peter 2:24-25).

Lord, Thank You for bringing us
out of darkness into Your wonderful
light because of Your great mercy.
Thanks for making us Your Special
People, Your very own possession.
Help me to continually yield to You
Lord so that the life and character
of Christ will be formed in me.
Then others may see Your goodness
and will be drawn to You. Amen.

Lord, You are good and holy and
we pray our lives will honour You.
And we pray that You will enable us
have godly character so that our lives
will be a Shining Example of You.
Lord, live in me and live through me
so that those who disagree or even
dislike me will be drawn to You and
to the saving knowledge of U. Amen

Lord, Thanks for the phenomenal
truth that I am truely Free In Christ.
I confess not always living it out.
Instead of joyful delight in Your
refreshing salvation, sometimes
I do feel like just barely making it.
Nevertheless, I claim Your promise
that I am free. Help me live beyond
what I want to what You desire.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Meditating Rev 17-19 (Oct 3)

The Lord’s Final Victory

Following the catastrophic
judgments of the seven veils,
John sees the doom of Babylon
predicted and brought to pass.
While Babylon is suffering shameful
demise on earth, a great multitude
in heaven sings praises to God
in anticipation of the marriage
supper of the Lamb. A white horse
emerges, mounted by the King
of kings who destroys the beast,
false prophet and the army. The dead
are judged at the great white throne
setting the stage for the coming
of a new heaven and earth.

One day God’s anger towards
sin will be completely unleashed.
Satan will be defeated together
with all of his agents and
God will reward the faithful.
We can take our place among God’s
faithful people by believing in Christ.
Grateful victory is sure for those
who resist temptation and make
loyalty to Christ their top priority.
Help us Lord Submit to Your Rule;
Help us Purpose to Serve You;
We Rejoice for Your Reign. Amen.

Lord, we Submit to Your Rule:
The ten horns which you saw are
ten kings… These are of one mind
and they will give their power
and authority to the beast.
These will make war with the Lamb
and the Lamb will overcome them,
for He is Lord of lords and
King of kings and those who
are with Him are called, chosen
and faithful (Rev 17:11-14).
Lord, You are my true light,
You are constantly gracious,
You are generous giving; and
I commit all my ways to You.
You are strength, You are good
and what You is righteous. And
You have the right to rule my life.
In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Lord, we Purpose to Serve You:
After these things I saw another
angel coming down from heaven,
having great authority & the earth
was illuminated with his glory.
And he cried mightily with a loud
voice saying: Babylon the great
is fallen… and has become
a dwelling place of demons…
And I heard another voice from
heaven saying: Come out of her, my
people lest you share in her sins and
lest u receive her plagues(Rev18:1-4).
Lord, we purpose to honour You
God in all our business dealings.
Help us Lord to avoid temptation
to take advantage of people’s
vices to enrich oneselves.
Help us to uphold godly values
and practice ethics in business.
Help us determine to focus on God
and His plan; not a on money. Amen.

Lord, we Rejoice for You Reign:
Then a voice came from the
throne, saying: Praise our God
all you His servants & those who
fear Him…And I heard the voice
of a great multitude: Alleluia for
the Lord God Omnipotent reigns!
Let us be glad and rejoice and
give Him glory, for the marriage
of the Lamb has come & the wife
has made herself ready(Rev 19:5-7)
Lord, we praise You for the future;
for You’ve promised that it’s good.
Thank U for our ultimate aim and
hope is to be with You in heaven.
We praise You for Your future
redemption of the world and all
things in our life. As we worship
You now, we thank You that one day
we will worship You face-to-face
for all eternity. In His name, Amen

Meditating Rev 14-16 (Oct 2)

The Lamb In Victory & Glory

Once again the 144,000 appear
in John’s vision, this time singing
a new song before God’s throne.
Angels in the midst of heaven
announce news that the hour
of judgment is come. The Son
of Man, suckle in hand, arrives to
begin the harvest day of the earth,
and those ripe for judgment are
cast into the wine press of God’s
wrath. Several angels emerge
with the seven last plagues,
which involve boils, blood, scorching
heat, darkness, pain, earthquakes,
hailstones and a titanic confrontation
at the place called Armageddon.

Christ came to earth as a Lamb,
the symbol of His perfect sacrifice
for our sin. He will return as the
triumphant Lion, the rightful ruler
and conqueror. He will defeat
Satan, settle accounts with those
who reject Him and bring His
faithful people into eternity.
Assurance of Christ’s return gives
suffering Christians strength
to endure. We can look forward
to His return as King and judge.
Lord, we Trust Your Mighty Power;
Lord, we Glorify Your Name; and
Lord, we Sing Your Praises. Amen.

Lord, we will Sing Praises of You:
They sang as it were a new song
before the throne, before the four
living creatures and the elders…
These are the ones who were
not defiled… These are the ones
who follow the Lamb wherever
He goes… These were… first fruits
to God and to the Lamb (Rev 14:3-4)
Lord, Your tender mercies and
sacrificial love for us constrain us
in gratitude to wholly serve You.
Let our whole being and nature be
consecrated for Your in dwelling.
Give us Lord loving and thankful
hearts; and may the Song of the
Lord be always in our hearts. Amen.

Lord, we Glorify Your Name:
Great and marvellous are your
actions, Lord God Almighty.
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations. Who will
not fear O Lord & glorify Yr name?
For You alone are holy. All nations
will come and worship before You
for Your righteous deeds have
been revealed. (Rev 15:3-4).
O Lord God Almighty, your deeds
are great and marvelous. You are
King of the nations and Lord of
my life! You alone are holy and
worthy to receive glory, honour
and power. May the things that
distract me and my excuses
for not spending time with You
fade in the light of Your glory.
Fill my heart with a sense of
Your greatness and majesty.
I adore you Christ the Lord. Amen.

Lord, we Trust Your Mighty Power:
Then the sixth angel poured out
his bowl on the great Euphrates
River, and it dried up so that the
kings from the east could march
their armies toward the west. Look,
I’ll come as unexpectedly as a thief!
Blessed are all who are watching
for me… And the demonic
spirits gathered all the rulers
and their armies to a place name
Armageddon (Rev 16:12-16).
Lord, as the world heads towards
Armageddon, the day of judgment,
we pray that we’ll fear You, worship
You and bring glory to Your name.
When we sin, may we be quick
to repent and to glorify You again.
Help us remember that You will come
like a thief; help us stay spiritually
awake; and help us be clothed each
day with Your righteousness. Amen.

Reflection on James & Peter

Knowing God thru His Names

The purpose of the letter of James
is to expose hypocritical practices
& to teach right Christian behaviour
while 1 Peter encourages suffering
Christians and 2 Pet exhorts them to
grow in faith & knowledge of Christ.
This week we understand God better
thru knowing His attributes, mostly
related to His ability to meet needs.
On Monday, we learn from James 4
about Spirit who Dwells In Us.
On Tuesday, we learn from 1 Pet 2
about Shepherd of Your Souls.
On Wed, we learn from 1 Pet 4 about
Spirit of Glory & Faithful Creator.
On Thursday, we learn from 2 Pet 1
of Excellent Glory & Morning Star.
On Friday, we learn from 2 Pet 3
that Lord & Saviour is Patient.
Let us humble ourselves and pray
and seek His face…In Jesus’ name.
